Okay so the latest and greatest news with the Red Sox is the
re-signing of one Mike Lowell. And now that I actually have some time to go a little more in depth, I shall. The deal is only for 3 years but it's for, reportedly, 37.5 million. And apparently, Lowell had a deal on the table from the one team I feared: Philly. They had a 4 year, 50 million dollar deal on the table, which caused the Red Sox to up the ante slightly. Given that and the fact that the deal in Philly was quite backloaded, Lowell chose Boston. :) And I couldn't be happier. What cracks me up, however, was that earlier in the morning Rob Bradford had written that it wasn't looking good. Oh how things change in such a short span of time...
One other bit of irony of amusement: Lowell, in a way, kind of trumped A-Rod's MVP announcement. A nice little karmic twist, eh? I mean A-Rod announced his opting out shortly before the Red Sox won it all(in the middle of Game 4) meanwhile the Lowell signing was announced an hour before A-Rod was named MVP. So that's pretty cool. A-Rod is MVP so that's pretty sweet. In the MVP voting though, some batshit insane individual voted BOBBY ABREU for 7th!! What the fuck is that? I dunno but I found it hilarious.
Also Orlando Cabrera is now a member of the Chicago White Sox. In return, LAAAAA got Jon Garland. INteresting trade cuz now they have two holes in their lineup. Unless if they wanna try to get Brandon Wood out there or what not *shrugs shoulders* Mehh whatever...the Angels' staff just got all the more better too!
