Chapter 1 Sometimes we forget that all endings can be happy, for all endings marked new beginnings. When one door closes, another opens. Sometimes we realize, sometimes we lose, other times we find.
When Tegoshi Yuya opened the door that day, he found.

“Yamashita kun?”
Yamapi blinked and paused, the ball still paused sturdily under his foot. Playing with Tegoshi made him realize just how out of shape he had gotten. The younger boy dodged left and right with such ease that he almost felt embarrassed at himself. Tegoshi was flushed red and panting slightly, creating whiffs of white air from the thinning winter winds. Yamapi smiled.
“Hai?”
“Could it be that you’re tired?” Tegoshi tilted his head slightly to the side.
Yamapi didn’t realize how much he had been panting himself. His throat hurt, burnt by the cry cold air. His legs aches, his face hurt, both having been hit earlier by a rogue ball sent his direction by one of Tegoshi’s power kicks.
“Ah ha ha~” Yamapi laughed, eyes sparkling under the wavering light of the street lamp. The roads have long been emptied by parents who rushed home to their children, by lovers to their spouses and students to their books. Tegoshi blushed slightly, partly because of those eyes, partly because he felt that he was already at home.
They smiled at each other for a moment, not quite sure of what to say before a familiar ringtone broke the silence. Yamapi fumbled in his pocket.
“Hai?”
“Ah Pi, your mum said you haven’t reached home yet … and it’s late. “
“Ryo Chan?”
Tegoshi started slightly as he listened, heart suddenly racing.
“Where are you?”
“I’m playing soccer with Tego-Nyan.”
“Eh? Soccer?”
“Well, I’ve been kind of out of shape.” The younger boy chuckled sheepishly, still not forgetting his four-nil defeat to Tegoshi.
“Eh…”
There was something in Ryo’s voice that Yamapi didn’t like that all.
“Ne, Ryo chan? Can I stay over tonight?”
“Eh?” Ryo blinked before starting to smile. “Of course.”
“Ja, I’ll see you later? I’ll need to avenge my defeat~”
“Mmm, be careful.”
“Hai.” Yamapi shut his phone carelessly before shooting a mischievous grin that the younger boy.
“Ready to get creamed~?”
Tegoshi forced a smile and shook his head, heart now heavy. Yamapi was going home soon, but not to him.
“I think I’m going home, I’m a little tired ne?”
“Eh?”
Yamapi frowned in surprise and stared. There was a strange shimmer in Tegoshi’s eyes that he just could not stand.
“I’ll walk you home.”
“Daijoubu desu yo, Yamashita kun.”
“I’ll walk you.” He repeated more forcibly.
Tegoshi sighed and nodded, much to Yamapi’s annoyance.
“So~ You want me gone so quickly ne?”
On the contrary, he never wanted the older boy to leave him. Tegoshi shook his head nervously.
“Gomen.” The younger boy blushed. Yamapi smiled as he ruffled his hands through the soft hair that danced in the wind. It was amazing how nice the younger boy smelt after a workout; how warm the boy felt in his arms; how beautiful the boy looked veiled by moonlight; He glowed, so perfectly.
“It’s fine.”
They started the road home silently, shoulder to shoulder, smile after smile. So comfortable that Yamapi was surprised. They walked up the path past the noiseless sleepy houses towards the final house at the corner of the street with its lights still turned on.
“Ja ne, Yamashita kun~” Tegoshi grinned, still glowing from the hug he had gotten earlier.
Yamapi was not sure why he did it, placing a soft kiss on the younger boy’s forehead. Perhaps it was because he was caught up in the moment, perhaps it was because the boy was just so beautiful. But he knew he had wanted to. He loved how red the younger boy would turn, how plainly and innocently.
“Ja, good night, Tegoshi.”

Some things are lost while other things are found.
It’s amazing how we learn to survive and it’s amazing how some things we just know and others we choose not to find out.
It’s amazing how we can teach ourselves to see pain as sweet, troubles as comforting and inconveniences as necessary.
It is amazing that we can love.

Ryo leapt off the couch as he heard his doorbell ring. There were rarely times where he didn’t know who was at the door and there was never a time he wasn’t glad to see the younger boy at it.
“You’re late.” Ryo pouted. Yamapi laughed as he brushed past the boy, the cold winter air still clinging onto his shirt. Ryo shivered slightly at the change in temperature, a comfortable coolness.
“I brought food~”
As if food was the solution to every problem. Ryo chuckled.
“Baka~ It’s 1 o’clock in the morning.”
“Perfect.” The younger boy smirked as he tilted in heavy plastic bag in his hand over the floor.
Random tidbits spilled over Ryo’s already messy carpet. Ryo blinked at the strange assortment. The younger boy was always extravagant and always did too much until he made himself almost unnecessary. But Ryo grinned anyway; they were all his favorites.
“You’re forgiven.”
Yamapi then proceeded to throwing him the victorious look he hated so much.
“Sit down and eat, you stupid idiot.”
“Hai~”
They ate, talked about nothing and laughed at everything. Best friends and endless conversations. Ryo felt stupid, being happy over things that had become so ordinary, things like these.
But with Yamapi, things were just extraordinary.
“So, soccer with Tego-Nyan?”
“Sou.”
“Nande?”
“Member ai?”
Ryo frowned.
“What~? Keii chan would be mad if you don’t approve.”
“Why wouldn’t I?” Ryo smiled. He liked how Yamapi whined. He liked being relied on. But before realizing that it was happening he had begun to rely on the younger boy to remind him that he was important. 6 years without realizing that he had already fallen in love.
“What, you want me to have an illicit affair with Tego Nyan against you?”
“You better not.” Ryo frowned.
“Hai~” Yamapi rolled his eyes before laughing. “Baka~”
“Ja, good night Pi.” Ryo just felt that he needed that shoulder to lie on.
“Night, Ryo chan.”
Things like “I love you” don’t need to be said, right?

Of course, each story has a separate ending and each person, their own story.

Tegoshi blushed as he shut his door, face still flushed in a sort of uncontrollable freakish fever. He didn’t know how to sleep that night or how to wake up in the morning.
He didn’t know anything much anymore.
He smiled.
“Oyasumi, Yamashita kun~ I love you~!”
