An Analysis Of My Current Music Taste

This summer I've definitely discovered some new awesome music already. I remember runfaeva telling me that when I was sick--back in April 21 - 30, 2006--that I should use my extra "getting well" time to listen to some great music. Though I didn't respond to that suggestion at the time, now I've been so inspired to explore the genres that I really like, and I've come up with some great stuff.

It also helps that my iPod is so cooperative. I mean, it does everything I want, and it's pretty much one of the best purchases I ever made. Everything's perfect about it: the capacity, the user interface (UI), the 2.5" color LCD screen, the click wheel, the intuitiveness of the organization, and of course, iTunes. The Smart Playlists also make things a lot easier. I pretty much love that little device.

So far in summer, I've discovered a few things about my music tastes:
  • Nickelback is now among my top ten favorite artists. Their music is so catchy, upbeat, and creative, which is exactly what I like to listen to. From the diversity of "Savin' Me" to the energy of "Animals", they've also got "Far Away", which is just an incredible song. These guys I will definitely be listening to a lot of in the near future.

  • Trapt came out with a new album not too long ago, and it's got some awesome stuff on it. "Lost Realist" is one of those songs where you could just play it over and over again and never get sick of it. From some of their new stuff to the classics like "Headstrong" and "These Walls", these guys rock.

  • Mest is a band that hardcorejuicesq introduced to me about half a year ago and although at first I just thought of them as another mediocre punk band, they have some amazing songs. Ones like "Jaded", "Drawing Board", "Walking On Broken Glass", and "Last Kiss" are incredible, and they've also got the catchy ones like "Cadillac", so this band has definitely earned a spot in my top ten. I've also seen them LIVE, so that helps.

  • Panic! At The Disco has a funny story entwined with them. O.K. well it's not that funny, but I just never really gave them a chance, though I've heard about them for the past couple months already. After seeing the music video for "I Write The Sins Not The Tragedies", I listened to some more of their music, read some reviews, and downloaded the whole album on LimeWire. It's exactly the kind of genre I love: up-tempo rock music that's insanely catchy. Their album, A Fever You Can't Sweat Out will definitely get played as much as Relient K's Mmhmm or Jack's Mannequin's Everything In Transit.
And of course bands that I've already discovered, like Jack's Mannequin, Relient K--of course, and Jimmy Eat World are bands I've acquired a great likeness for in the past year or so are also among my top ten favorite artists.

There are other bands worth mentioning, but that'd be a list of about another fifteen bands I haven't already spoken of. The ones I've already listed are just ones that recently I've had an exceptional likeness for, where their music never seems to get old. My music taste will probably be ever-changing, but for right now, I love my new additions and the selections I have right now.
