Over the weekend, my husband acquired free tickets to the
Fort Worth zoo and even though it was supposed to reach a thousand degrees that day, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity! We arrived a few minutes before the gate opened at 10 A.M. and it was already 649 degrees outside. We collectively drank a half a liter of water from the exhaustion of standing in the shade for 15 minutes.
As the doors opened, I felt a little like we were in a very slow marathon. I wanted to take a picture of the entry bridge that was covered along either side with beautiful, bloom filled flower boxes.
Trying to keep track of two other adults and two children amid the dozens of other families sauntering by, yet to be dispersed throughout the zoo, proved a challenge in itself. I knew I’d lose them if I stopped to take a picture in such chaos!
