I'm such a nerd

Apr 18, 2008 00:54

Thanks to Diana, my nerd mode is on again. She told me that scheds for next semester's classes are already uploaded in the CRS1 Website, and surprisingly, the English Department already uploaded our subjects for next sem. It's really surprising cos we're known to be one of the departments who uploads the subjects a little late, though not in a super late way like the Lingg Department.

Here are the subjects that I plan to take, no specific schedules yet:

English 200- Thesis (Prof. Castro)
English 191- Approaches to a College English Program (Prof. Aquino)
English 30- English for the Professions (Prof. Calderon--- I swear I'll do anything just to get this class. I <3 her. )
Instik 10-11- Basic Chinese 1 and 2 (Integrated class)
Aral Pil 12- I dunno, something about the Philippines I guess (Petras)

Yes, next semester I'll be a real Senior (cos I have been senior standing since last semester haha) yet I'll be taking 4 fxcking subjects for Freshmen (English 30, Intsik10-11, Aral Pil 12). I can't believe this, I'm going to be the oldest in my class. Yuck. But does this mean more chances of getting 1.0's? Hahaha I hope so.

And yes, I am taking Chinese! Yes, I am in love with Singapore, to the extent that I want to learn Chinese since almost all of my Singaporean friends are Chinese. And yes, I really want to go back here. Hopefully by that time, I already know basic Chinese so I can haggle with Chinatown vendors. But also, I guess learning Chinese wouldn't be enough since I don't even look Chinese. Haha. I look more like a Malay cos of my eyes and complexion. But regardless, I want to learn Chinese even though it's hard. Grades do not matter so much to me now, because...

It's official. It's already impossible for me to graduate Summa cum Laude. If I get all 1.0's for all my remaining 36 units, my General Weighted Average would be 1.22. Fuck that! Summa's 1.21! Ack. So that means I can just relax, since my running GWA is about 1.29 now. Magna cum Laude's almost 99% sure, since I only have 3 majors left (including thesis) and all the rest are just GEs. Then again, things might change so I'm still not complacent about it. But still, this disincentivises me from studying more since I know that no matter what I do, Summa's already an impossibility. But still, I'm happy enough to know that even if I get 1.75's in all my remaining 36 units, I'll still be able to graduate Magna cum Laude.

Oh well, life. I blame everything to my old Biology 1 Prof  three years ago who gave me my lowest grade ever: 2.25. I hate you talaga, Sir. GE ka lang but you ruined my GWA. Can you just retire? It's not just me, everyone that I know wants him to just vanish. Er, maybe except
bocho_atenista who got a 1.+ level last summer. Sige na.

Ah, I almost forgot that I applied for a credit transfer of my NUS units. That might ruin my GWA too, since here, my performance is just... mediocre. It's really hard to study while on exchange! Oh well, I'm not really an exchange student since my official status is: "non-graduating, non-exchange". So I don't know what my real status is. FTW. I hope all my modules here gets credited, so I would just have to deal with 24 units. 20 to be exact, since a module here carries 4 units, but I don't think UP would use that system. But I really want these units credited cos they'll look good in my transcript. Hahaha.

On more happy news, it's confirmed: I'm going to Thailand this Saturday! We just bought our tickets today. I'll be back in Singapore Friday morning, and yes, my Language and the Internet Finals is on Saturday morning. Kebs, I need a break. I wanna go to Krabi! I want to get drunk in a virginal beach!
