A senseless post with a cute meme
Breaking News: I'm now done with my fxcking Language and the Internet Project (the corpus and the Wmatrix thing that you might have seen in my Y!M or MSN status messages). Sleep deprivation really works for me, and I think my paper's just okay. It's not brilliant since I myself am not totally convinced with the generalisations that corpus linguistics studies make, but I think I was able to integrate most of what I learned in class the whole semester in that paper. There's nothing sweeter than seeing a paper complete with bibliography, appendices, and of course, the coverpage. God I'm such a dork.
But my status message in MSN, although pessimistic, summarises the next phase: corpus done, more to go. I still haven't started making my powerpoint on that paper, and as well as the Website Review which is 10% of our CA. I'm thinking of studying the Language of Online Christian Confessions just because it's new, it's interesting, and it's controversial (read it in IHT some few weeks ago) and even rejected by the Catholic Church (well they reject so many things, anyway LOL). It's just a 5-minute presentation so I guess that should be enough. I already have some things to discuss, such as the issues of asynchronicity, anonymity, and of course, concordances (of words like "I", "love", "God", "forgive") and some other things that I have yet to know tomorrow.
And also, our group project in Language Planning and Policy's due this Friday, and our group will just be meeting for the first time tomorrow. Yes, you heard it right: first time. That means that we have to mug for that 5000-word essay for just one fxcking day. Good luck.
