The Obligatory Amazing Thailand Post

Apr 26, 2008 13:30

I have made three drafts of entries about my 5-day Thailand trip, but all of them sound so boring to me at best, and at worst, sound so tacky. And now I'm even lazier to update a sensible one. Since my Language and the Internet Finals a while ago scares me to death (it was way more difficult than I expected) up to now while Cinematic Discourse readings are haunting me screaming "REAAAAD USSSS!", I have to just get done with this obligatory Amazing Thailand post.

So here it is:

I love Thailand. We did all sorts of crazy stuff like island hopping, snorkelling, riding insane buses and tuktuks, walking kilometric distances, camwhored in Buddhist temples, camwhored in beaches, camwhored everywhere, saw trannies, harrassed by a killer bird, haggled a lot, pretended to be Thai, shopped a few stuff, and many more. Now I'm tanner than ever. I don't really care since I've been tanned all my life, but this one is crazy. But kebs, not everyone gets the chance to Thailand so kebs.

And yes, Thailand's really amazing. Prices are cheap compared to Singapore, and prices are very much like prices in the Philippines. Shopping is very easy, and transportation is very efficient. Of course, Singapore's transport system is way better, but Singapore's too small so that should be easier for them.

A lot of people talked to me in Thai, and so in Malay. Now I know that Filipinos are really Asians. :p I look Filipino a lot (I'm pure Filipino although my mom says I am 1/8 Spanish so I find that crazy to consider as part of my ethnicity) so I realised that Asians really resemble one another in a way. The good thing there is that I got to haggle easier because I just hold the product without talking and the vendors tell me how much is it (of course it sounds like "50 Baht "). So I get to hear the honest price, and do the talking afterwards, so they get shocked that I speak to them in English and not in Thai. Hahahaha. They can't rig me just because I'm not Thai. Hahaha.

However, I didn't expect to miss Singapore so much when I was in Thailand. I wanted to go back to Singapore at the middle of our stay in Thailand. I dunno, there's something in Singapore that makes me regard it as my second home. I have missed been missing the Philippines since I got here, but I didn't expect that I would be this attached to Singapore that I've started to miss it already.

Oh well, come next week, I'll be packing my things for AUDC. I only have around a week here in Singapore, a week in Malaysia, and a day to go back to Singapore to catch my flight back to Manila. Just a thought of me packing up makes me sad, because Singapore really changed me a lot--- all the things I've learned, the people I've met, the languages I've heard, and the places I've been. These things are the things I'll never get to experience again for sure. Sure, I can go back to Singapore some time soon, but certainly, things would be different from what they are now.

I'll upload the pictures in my Multiply site one of these days, for everyone to see how amazing Thailand really is. For now, I have to start moving cos I'll be going to Orchard Road with Dake and Wayne to buy some stuff, eat Pinoy food, and watch a Shanghai Dance Opera later at the Victoria Theatre. The AC here in the Reading Room also gets insanely colder and colder, and everyone's speaking languages which I don't understand at all, which is irritating given that we are in the "Reading Room", so I guess it's time for me to get my ass moving now. These people are just too irksome. And did I mention that they're eating Katsudon here? Sheez.
