 Why is it that when I ask for help I never seem to get it?

I posted asking people to help me find someone who can do an assessment on the flat I rent. I posted a simple message asking for a contact as I don't want the owner of the property to find out what I'm doing.  Just when I thought things were going to get better I get news that the owner of the property I rent wants to put the rent up to what she feels is 'market rent'. I don't know where she's getting her stats from but the amount of rent I'm paying now is way above what this place is worth. Our general election was yesterday. Despite early poll results predicting Labour would be the new government, status remained quo. I don't like the National Party. They care little for people on low incomes. Property prices are so high first home buyers don't even get a look in and rents are far too high.
