Saw Doctor Who in the theater. These are my disjointed thoughts.

- First off, loved it. Loved it. Part of me was scared that I would finally see a Doctor I didn't like, but thankfully that didn't happen.

- While Smith still slightly edges out as my favorite Doctor, Capaldi was amazing and perfect and I'm so excited to see what he'll do with it.

- This episode keeps on confirming my belief that the Doctor is the same man each time. I mean, while this incarnation is darker and testier and not as nice, he's still all about humanity, all about saving lives, and all about having his Companion's back. And yes, he's still an egomaniac.

- Aw. Poor dinosaur. Yes, I felt bad for the T-Rex.

- As I was hoping, I like Clara a lot better with Capaldi than I did with Smith. I like that he unsettles her. I like that we're getting more characterization and emotion from her. She's thrown off her game and isn't as in control, and I like it. And the flirting is gone, which I'm grateful for. I'm never a fan of Doctor/young companion. He needs someone with more experience. And since Eleven is always and forever River's for me, him flirting with Clara always felt wrong (especially once Moffat said that Eleven was attracted to Clara). She has a great non-romantic chemistry with Capaldi's Doctor, though, and I'm already loving it. She's also given more to do here, so we can see that Jenna really does have acting chops.

- The bits at the beginning with the Doctor not remembering and mixing things up was hilarious. That was absolutely my favorite immediately-post-regeneration Doctor strangeness.

- I like the throwback to a Ten-era episode (and one of my favorite episodes from Series 2 at that). The clockwork robots were more human this time, having taken human parts for themselves, but they were no less creepy in all the best ways. Although, I have to say, whoever thought programming robots to be willing to take organic parts when mechanical ones failed was kind of an idiot. But, anyway.

- I'm convinced that the Doctor pushed Half-Face Man, and I like it. That is absolutely something some other Doctors might have done as well (cough::Ten::cough).

- Vastra, Jenny, and Strax were awesome as always. I love these three. And I keep loving them more with each appearance. I love that we got more blatant innuendo from Vastra and Jenny as well as a kiss (even if it was just to give Jenny oxygen). And Vastra's clear attraction to Clara and Jenny's slight jealousy was amusing. And Strax. Ah, Strax. I will never not love your potato-headed awesomeness. And I don't know if tv-people got the Strax introduction, but in the theater we got a Strax-introduction where he went through all the incarnations of the Doctor for his blog, and it was hilarious.

- I think the only thing that I might have disliked was that ending, though once I saw I post where someone suggested that Missy was the new villain, I disliked it less.

- I'd call this my second favorite Doctor introduction, after Eleventh Hour. Eleventh Hour's "I am the Doctor" speech still is one of my favorite Who scenes and pushes that episode for the win. But I really, really loved this one too.
