So One Word is a website where you are shown one word and have sixty seconds to write anything that the word inspires you to write. It's a mindless site, but it's fun.

I can see where a Nanowrimo fan (of which I am not, at the moment, but that's another story) could use this as inspiration.

About 1350 words on day one. This is not very good, about 350 words under the target for the day. I had a very tough time getting started and didn't actually finish my first 500 words until about 2:30.

I'm awake now (my brain won't turn off) so I'm going to try to pound out as many words as I can before Gina wakes up.

My weakness is the plot. It's always the damned plot. I can create characters, scenes, motivations, events . . . pretty much anything. It's tying everything together that hurts my brain.

Nanowrimo goes nanoslowmo at the moment. Maybe poking around online for plot assistance will help, but probably not. Even so, this fantasy plot generator is ( Read more... )

Maybe it's the jetlag guiding my brain today, but I've decided to sign up for this year's NaNoWriMo. I'm optimistic today, which isn't all that shocking, but we'll see how I feel in a week.

The Creative Writing Championships Flash Fiction contest looks interesting, and could be a good way for me to try something new, but should I? I mean, I've only recently learned of the format and have yet to try writing something like this, so it's probably not smart to dive into something without at least a little practice. I've turned in my freelance assignment, on schedule, and poked at the artist for another project. Now to return to the final days of my vacation.

One of the projects I've started collecting research on is an unofficial guide to the old M.A.S.K. comics and cartoon. I've no idea if I'll make money at it but it should be fun and, if current sales trends on eBay are any indication, there is a market for this sort of thing.
