I am on a roll with my lunches. Normally, going out mid-week would derail my food efforts, but I knew I would be at Charles' birthday party last night, so I made sure I had plenty of leftovers to pack for lunch, as well as prepped fruit for breakfast. ( Today's breakfast and lunch )

DC folks: So Others Might Eat has a form email where you can write your councilperson and encourage them to allocate money to the rent supplement program. This program helps DC residents in need find affordable housing.

Today's Food Bank was fun--page5grrl and I, along with some One Brick volunteers, sorted and boxed pantry items. I lifted enough industrial sized bottles of olive oil to drown a small country. I'm tired and sore, but five of us cleared through four large cages, so I know we got a lot done ( Read more... )

Tonight's Hunger Action was VERY productive--we were at half the number of volunteers, but we were still able to make enough food for 700+ people! Tonight's fare was bean salad (12 trays!), 200+ snack bags, and sack lunches. The net Hunger Action dates are April 3, May 1, and May 15.

Hunger Action was very productive tonight. We made bean salad, snack bags, and PB & J for more than 540 people. I will likely be taking on a larger role in planning & organizing, and I will keep you all posted.
