I used to sort of like Batman. But somewhere along the way, it started to seem that Bruce was a guy so obsessed with forever "fighting crime" that he didn't care about actually winning. In a reply to an s_d post, batcookies suggests that the thing with Geoff Johns is that he's a Silver Age fanboy who doesn't deal well with characters that are too different from the versions he knew from when.

So when he tries to write "modern" Batman or Wonder Woman, he screws them up somehow.

According to legend, once, over 20 years ago, Detective Comics was officially cancelled. Then the next day, the company thought better of it, & it continued anyway. Batman, after all, from the 1940's to the early 1980's, was largely seen as a silly & mockable character ( Read more... )
