Crispin Glover, found dogs, decorating my new apartment, etc.

My sister's dog is safely back home:-) After posting lots of fliers in the area, and posting lots of notices on the internet, I received a phone call last Sunday from a woman who had been taking care of Phoenix since last Wednesday. Then, she saw a flier and recognized the picture of Phoenix, so she called me. I think that's the main thing I am thankful for this Thanksgiving:-)

Also on Sunday, My friend Mary and I went to see Crispin Glover in person at the Grandview Theatre!!! He was presenting his Big Slide Show, he was supposed to be showing his film It is Fine! Everything Is Fine!, doing a Question and Answer session, and then signing autographs.

The Big Slide Show went fine, besides some occasional microphone feedback issues. But, when it was time for the movie, nothing went correctly. The projector wouldn't work at all. After about an hour of movie theatre staff and Crispin Glover himself trying to fix it, Crispin Glover decided to show a digitial version of the earlier film in the trilogy, which is called What Is It?. He had the digital version on his laptop.

After the film (which would take too long to describe), there was a Q & A session. Crispin Glover constantly went off on tangents, but amazingly, he only forgot what question he was answering once.

Finally, it was autograph time. We waited in line, during which time, I was literally trembling all over and trying not to vomit due to nervousness. I wanted to get Crispin Glover's 1989 c.d. The Big Problem Does Not Equal the Solution, the Solution Equals Let It Be autographed. At one point, I said to Mary: "This is how I felt as a child waiting to see Santa Claus."

Once it was our turn to go up to the table, I was ready to run out of the building in a panic. Mary and I approached the table, and Crispin Glover shook my hand. I asked if I could take a picture of him, and he told me to go around the table to stand next to him. I was quite sure I would puke on him if I did that, so I told him I just wanted to take a picture of him signing the c.d. He asked my name, then asked what letter it ends with; he actually wrote the entire autograph on the c.d. before going back to put the "y" at the end of my name. The full autograph says: "For Kelly, Thank you for coming to What Is It?, Crispin Hellion Glover."

He asked Mary and what we thought of the film, if it was what we expected, and how we knew he was going to be in our city. He didn't seem to just be asking out of obligation; he seemed genuinely interested to know what we thought. At some point, I remember telling him: "I've been a fan for a really long time," which is probably the most fangirly thing I said the entire time (I'm not the type of fangirl who squeals and jumps around while meeting one of her idols. I'm usually far too terrified and nervous to squee in front of an actor or musician; I start squeeing as soon as I am out of sight/earshot of the person).

Once that was over with, he shook my hand again, and I was on Cloud 9.

Final Life Update: I'm still kind of recovering from the whole bacterial bronchitis thing. I don't feel sick, but I still have a bit of a cough (much worse at night, as most things are). But, I've finally started unpacking and decorating my new apartment. I'm still quite happy in my new place:-)
