It's Friday, and I'm bored, and JC has been giving too many interviews in which he says conflicting things and only reinforces my belief that he has absolutely no plans to release music anytime soon. So let's talk about it ( Read more... )

jc is made of failcats

I think Jive still has some rights over his songs and that would suck because probably we won't ever hear the ones he did with Justin and Timbaland. Anyway, I want to bitch more about it, but I have to run now. I'll be back. LOL

Supposedly they don't. Anyway, we know that he's rerecorded some stuff and done a LOT of new stuff.

I'm starting to think we just assumed they didn't have any rights because of that printed interview were they said JC was taking Kite with him. It's one thing when you are allowed to take the record with you, another saying Jive don't have any rights left. Just Timbaland's work on that album could be worth more than a million dollars, add that studio time, other producers, musicians, technicians, etc. I really doubt they gave up ALL their rights, something like that doesn't happen ever! It's like when Nsync took their name with them, but still had to add the name of the old label on shit and pay rights on old records.

That's the only reason I can imagine why he started working on a whole new reocrd.

I dunno what the legal ramifications are when you leave a record company but I can't imagine they let him go without some stipulation ( ... )

I think you're right, and that's all true, however, I don't think he's ever said he's in it for commerical success, and if he is, then all his talk about music being his passion and blah blah blah is really meaningless. I don't know what's holding him back from releasing the stuff he's done post-JIVE on his own, independently, but whatever it is, it's very frustrating! I don't think, in the current industry climate, a label even exists that will support him fully in that way.

Actually, if he wants to be commercially successful, he should go to Europe and sign with a label there. They love pop music and Schizo did much better over there than it did in the US.

I 'heard' that he wrote a whole new album that Jive could not claim any right to.

Exactly.

He should just leak the songs with Timbaland and Justin. :( I really want them, but he would never do that. :/ And if he tried, I bet none of his "friends" would know how to do it without getting caught. LOL

I wish he'd sign with Timbaland, if he had that opportunity. Look what Tim did for Nelly Furtado after she got dropped from her label and he signed her.
