he used to be so awesome

It's Friday, and I'm bored, and JC has been giving too many interviews in which he says conflicting things and only reinforces my belief that he has absolutely no plans to release music anytime soon. So let's talk about it ( Read more... )

I thought about you this morning when I read my emails. We have this sales person from People Magazine who sends out this email (The Daily Dirt) which is basically celebrity gossip before (?) it makes it into People Magazine.

One of this morning's story was: Lance Bass is gearing up to appear in the next installment of “Dancing with the Stars,” but apparently network execs are fretting over whether or not to pair the openly gay pop star with a male or female dance partner. /DN 21

I posted that yesterday! I am excited about Lancers being on the show. I think he should have a female partner, though. That's how ballroom works. It wouldn't make sense with two guys!

Ooops, I missed that.

But I agree, if it's ballroom like, then he should dance with a female. Is that what Dancing with the Stars is like? Ballroom? I never watched an episode in my life so I wouldn't know.

Yup, it's all ballroom. Each celebrity is paired with a professional ballroom dancer. Each week they're given a different ballroom dance (waltz, tango, cha cha, etc) and the professional choreographs and teaches the celebrity, and then they perform on the show. It's pretty entertaining if you like the celebs involved.

I'm about to add Kate to the list of things we won't get. Much like the Celebrity Tour DVD that we were teased about for so long.

I keep waiting for him to pull a Donny Osmond and release a song in five years and not allow the radio to say who it is until a certain date. I have given up any hope of hearing JC music.

Me too. And it pisses me off, knowing it's there but not being allowed to hear it. It's... it's mean! It's not that I think he owes it to his fans to put a product out. I think he owes it to HIMSELF. He seems so insecure after the Schizo fiasco, and I wish he weren't because regardless of sales, Schizo is a brilliant album and he should be pleased with himself for having created it. He questions himself and his abilities too much. As much as I think la Timberlake can get too cocky and arrogant, the guy has confidence and confidence goes a long way toward other people believing in you and your vision. JC needs that. If you don't believe in your vision enough to let anyone else see it, it's like a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure.

I wish I could get JC in a therapy session :P I'd straighten him out!

It saddens me to say this, but you've put my thoughts into words. I just can't get him, and I'm still hoping for him to just release that album like now!

*sigh*

I just keep wondering what it would take for him to get over himself and just release the music. Why does he feel the need to go through official channels and get a label, blah blah? I almost think that's just the excuse he's using because he's afraid of putting himself out there again. Maybe his habit of wearing pants two sizes too small really has shriveled his nuts :P

I don't know why he's doing the things he's doing. But what you posted yesterday about him saying the whole "stars aligning" thing, actually caused a little "pang" in my heart and I realized that for all of my harsh words about him the past few months and the fail, I really do want this music and maybe I kindof miss him. The musician him.

Me too :( I know he has some amazing songs in him, and probably recorded, too. I just wish he had the confidence to take a chance and put it out there, you know? Something else that I've been thinking about is something he said in an interview last year, about how he thinks some of his best songs are things no one else has ever heard. I think that statement says a lot about the sheer amount of fear he has of showing his work to others. Sigh. It's just sad.

You know...his clothes just don't bother me that much. I think he just has really bad taste, and really shitty friends that won't tell him he looks like an ass. Besides, I think he actually likes that stuff. Though he shouldn't wear stuff so tight, it makes him look heavier. Also, how many years in this business and he still doesn't know to stick his head out when he's getting his picture taken? So he always pulls his head back and looks like he has a double chin.

As for the music. I think JC has changed over the years...and to him the best part of it all is actually making the music. Because while he likes to perform, it's all the stuff between making the music and getting to perform it he doesn't like...or he just doesn't want to do it right now. I don't think I totally get 2008 JC.

To me, it's just a fucking waste of his voice, to be honest. The thing is, he might love *making* music (even if he claims to love the making of and performing of equally), but he's not that great at it. Not to be mean, but his lyrics are not the pinnacle of lyrics and his songs, as much as I enjoy them, often lack real emotion. The thing that makes his music good is HIM singing it with his crazy awesome voice.

I'm conflicted. Because you know... if he's happy just making music for other people, well. Okay, good, I want him to be happy. But I don't want to be invested in him if that's the case. I don't want to be a fan if he's not going to create anything for himself. I don't know if I can stop myself, but I wish I could :P

And yes, he needs to wear clothes that fit and understand that his face is fuller than it was a few years ago, so learn how to post for pictures!

I think that's why I don't get him...because it's a HUGE waste of talent in my opinion. And I just don't think people that have that kind of talent and have the opportunities he does should squander.
