Food

I suppose one of the best things about living in a U.S. military city (the U.S. Army Airborne base is in Wiesbaden) is that one can have whatever one would desire in American food.  For me that has always been sour cream.  I know, I know.  That's weird, right?  Germany doesn't produce sour cream in the same way that the U.S. does, and I much prefer the American version.  That and peanut butter would be the 2 foods that I would sorely miss.

However, when one is German and lives in Wiesbaden, one has the opportunity to do their grocery shopping on the military base.  You have access to lots of food and a much less expensive price than at a German market.  Unfortunately, that also means that I have yet to have German food!!

As evidenced by my breakfast, you can even get "American" milk.  German's don't typically drink milk straight from the carton.  It has a higher fat content than American milk and is usually only used for cereals and cooking.

However, with lunch (peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made with Wonderbread), we did have some local wine.  I can't say I like wine again, but I definitely like it better than the wine I had in the States.  Does shipping do something to wine?
