I feel kind of guilty for this as I came here through apiphile but OF COURSE HE'S GAY! I mean, come on, if Robinson can say he's a 'quasi-homo' (at the very least) and McGann/Brown can behave like slash-obsessed fangirls and even Richard loved putting the gay spin on lines, they have no fucking reason to deny it.

What irritates me is that one of their arguments is "Bruce says he isn't". Trust the teller, not the tale! Have you never read 'The Intentional Fallacy'?!

Oddly, that's the second time in two days I've said that, and I've not actually read it yet, but... um... at least I know the gist.

Even before I read that Empire quote, Bruce saying 'If they were a real couple, they'd be shagging onscreen by now' on his commentary is a very *odd* way of saying 'Of course they're not gay, now never mention it to me again.'

And if the actors jump on every bit of evidence that Withnail is as queer as a brightly decorated christmas tree, there is no way in hell that we shouldn't do the same.

I suppose one argument you COULD make is that Withnail is asexualised to such a degree that he can't really be said to have any orientation as such. But that's stretching it a bit, I reckon.

I'm not sure about that arguement. Everyone's personal canon is different and I don't know all that much about asexuality, but Withnail is just so flamboyant and out there that I can't imagine him having no interest in sex.

And by the way, and I hate doing this but this seems like a good time as any, may I friend you? I obviously love WithWood and I also love M*A*S*H slash, Hugh Laurie and Doctor Who. And you seem awesome, of course.
