it ain't a coincidence that pitchers and catchers report on valentine's day.

Man. So I dropped $300 on semester books today with still another class to buy texts for, then browsed for an obscenely expensive digital camera, so really, it's fitting to mention here that I still desperately want the Yankees to sign Carlos Beltran ( Read more... )

boys be damned, baseball will make my valentines day perfect nyychick23513 January 7 2005, 22:39:55 UTC
i would give my right arm (or curt schilling's, as i am not picky ^_~) to see carlos beltran in pinstripes. if this makes me a selfish yankee fan, then so be it. but for the record, i was not salivating over the randy johnson deal, so i'm not THAT selfish, right?

did you see the thing last night on sportscenter? buster olney (i think) suggests that beltran's personality isn't "suited well" for the bright lights of NYC. interesting.

i'm just glad we're not getting him.

haha, me watch espn? aka yankee-hater TV? psh. :P nyychick23513 January 7 2005, 23:01:37 UTC
olney said that? that surprises me...i thought he'd been one of the people for the yankees signing beltran.

i'm not sure what about his personality he thinks wouldn't work in NY. i thought he'd be a great fit for pinstripes.

and what happened to miss "i'm stealing beltran from you!" huh? decide to give him back to me? :P

i think it was olney. he said he didn't think the yankees were going to go get him.

he said that betlran is a deeply religious man who avoids the spotlight. or at least has until now.

$105 mil for 6 years is a little much, dude ;P

at a tigers game, you can pay something like $7 and get a full pizza dinner and two 2-liter pepsis :P oh, the joys of a crappy team. i just hope they don't raise ticket prices now that they're improving. :P

ahaha, view level a's tickets $8 and $4 if you've got a triple-a card (which i do), and on wednesday, tickets are $2 and dogs are a dollar (limit ten per customer). bridge toll is three bucks and only suckers pay for parking, it's cheaper than a goddamn movie.

i win!

As does the Timmy & Mark Greatest Hits Countdown that was the last Oakland A's mailbag:Mulder ripping through a complete game so quickly last summer on a fireworks night that the crowd had to wait a good 30 minutes before it got dark enough for the show.

and
And while we're on the subject, Zito's going to have some competition as far as that lead dog role is concerned. Mulder, for one, has said that he thinks Rich Harden has more talent than any of the Big Three, and this could be the year he explodes into superstardom.
. . . In less painful news, dude, does anybody ever hit the ten dog limit? I can't imagine that they do because that is an awful, awful, awful lot of dog ( ... )

i am gnashing my teeth over the "la la la, we're not interested in carlito anymore" development. i half-expected to come back from vacation to read that he was in the proverbial yankee bag. and the, how did they say it...oh yeah, the "yountification" of jeter has captured my interest for awhile now. shame it'll never happen. OH WELL.
