Man. So I dropped $300 on semester books today with still another class to buy texts for, then browsed for an obscenely expensive digital camera, so really, it's fitting to mention here that I still desperately want the Yankees to sign Carlos Beltran.
Fiscal responsibility be damned, man -- first of all, if I'm going to be fiscally irresponsible, my favorite team should be, too. We can have fantastic HOLY COW HOW ARE WE PAYING FOR FOOD AND GAS AND ELECTRICITY???? bonding phases together in four years. Debt misery is so much better when shared.
Secondly, at the baseball stadium closest to where I currently live, $30 will buy you a ticket so close to the pitcher's mound that you could probably hand him the rosin bag and, when you get tired of that, the right to in-seat catering. At Yankees Stadium, $30 more or less buys you a seat on the upper tier and a hot dog that you fetch yourself, but I kinda missed out on Bernie's glory days, and I'll happily pay horrifically inflated ticket prices for the next ten years or so if that means I don't spend the next six months screaming my throat out whenever the other team's DH goes from first to third on a bloop hit to shallow center field.

Yankees to donate $1 million to Tsunami Relief. Matsui (who, incidentally, played CF in Japan) is also personally donating about $450,000 to relief.
