This is the Droid You're Looking For

Hello Kiddies,

It's been a low-key weekend here in the HSB, as the best laid plans were laid out and laid up. But such is life. One thing that we did accomplish was finally upgrading our phone. Accompanied by the wonderfully tech savvy catelynn, I went to the Verizon Store in Union Square to go play with the phones and see which one was right for me. After briefly considering the Motorola Droid Razr, Droid 4, and the HTC Rezound, I decided on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I'm already amazed by all the shit this thing does.
There are things that I'm gonna miss about my Ozone, as it was my first foray into the world of Smartphones. The thing I'll miss most is the ability to make my own ringtones and sounds and use them as alerts. (Alas my phone will no longer go 'ACK!' when I get a text message.) but these are the sacrifices we make to move on.) Of course while initially being sold on it quite well, Windows Mobile turned out to be the Edsel of Smartphones much to my chagrin. The original one I had was great, I had apps and games up the wazoo, and even got a memory card so I could fit more on it. When I lost it, the replacement was just that, a replacement. It never really was the same. The learning curve for the Ozone was about a week, but I have surprisingly gotten the hang of the Nexus rather quickly. I love the HUGE screen and while I never thought I'd ever get used to a touch screen phone (the screen is for looking not for touching!), I'm diggin it! I got the apps I need, have updated my address book and have a nice KISS theme and ringtones. One nice surprise is that when they synced my contacts, they actually got a version from before I lost the phone last year so I got a few numbers back, and transferred the ones I needed manually in no time. So on that level we are all set. So let's see if this baby sticks around for a while. I have always had the bad habit of getting the 'Dark Horse' phones. Usually the ones that are less popular for some reason and I don't see a lot of. The funny thing about the Ozone was that in the three years I had it, I NEVER ran into someone who had the same phone. It's been an interesting technology trip for me to be sure.I had my beeper with Voicemail for years and it sufficed. When my parents went out of the country on vacation, I took my Mom's cell phone with me to work and I was like 'WOW this is convenient!' I got my first cell phone on July 10, 2003, which created a rather odd coincidence. ;) It was a Sony Ericsson T610 from what was then Cingular Wireless. I switched to Verizon when my contract was up two years later and replaced it with an LGVX8000. When that was shot by next contract, I got a Motorola Maxx Ve and I loved that little bastard, wore it to hell too. Then came the Ozone and here we are. I was actually eligible for an upgrade last July but there were other things going on. So now I am among the Android Google Drones. Welcome to the Party.
