This is the Droid You're Looking For

Hello Kiddies,

It's been a low-key weekend here in the HSB, as the best laid plans were laid out and laid up. But such is life. One thing that we did accomplish was finally upgrading our phone. Accompanied by the wonderfully tech savvy catelynn, I went to the Verizon Store in Union Square to go play with the phones and see which one was right for me. ( Read more... )

It was bigger than the others and I wanted a larger phone. The screen was big and very easy to navigate. The numbers on the phone dial are also large and easy to use. When I made a test call from the store model it SOUNDED GREAT! Sharp and crystal clear. I had already decided on a Droid phone and that just seemed the best of the bunch and it feels really great in my hand. It was more expensive than most of the others, but $100 more or less wasn't really gonna impact my decision at that point. I think it's strictly a VZW phone so I dunno what version your carrier will have, but they should have one of the Samsung models.

I don't currently have a contract on anybody. I'm going to try out VZW & Android, but I would prefer a phone closer to iPhone size. I don't want big. Call quality is important - I make a whole lot of calls. I notice VZW has a deal on the HTC Rhyme - know anything about it?

I honestly don't remember seeing that one but it does look rather nifty. The features seem nice and so is the price. As much research as one can do online, you really don't know what's right until you see them in person. If the phone/calling part is what's most important to you, you need to test it out. Tell a friend or two you are going phone shopping and will be making test calls so they will pick up even if they see a strange number. You should also take a friend with you (if you can) to bounce ideas off of and make a test call from the back of the store (hence why I recruited C). The one determining factor in all of my phone choices has been the feel. When I had the phone in my hand and was like, this is it. I'm also an accessory Queen so the cases and stuff like that are important to me.

*Like* :)

Welcome to the party, indeed!

So... if you're really attached to that "ACK" thing... and if you have the sound file for it somewhere... and you promise not to torment Catelynn, Mark, or me with it... I'll figure out how to convert it into something which will work on your phone. Just send it my way.

God I hope I don't regret this....

:) (love you, Petey)

Yeah, really...

I mean, you're my brother, and so I gotta help you be 'you' and all...

Like I said, please keep it away from C, M, and me.... :)

Oh I'm about to upgrade my phone, too. I'll have to make use of catelynn's expertise.

You could make use of her's or you can make use of mine. I have always gone with a buddy when checking out new phones. Who's your carrier?

AT&T. I'm due for an upgrade on my phone with them, but naturally I have to sign a contract to get it. My plan is to sign the contract, get the upgrade, then have another carrier buy me out and go with them from that point onward. I'm feeling kind of vindictive toward AT&T because of something that happened a while back.
