Hello Kiddies,
Some of you have seen me posting about this before. It's actually the main reason I voted for Cuomo, so you know if it makes me vote for a Democrat then it has to be important. :)
If you are a New York State resident (and even if you aren't), please help the cause and keep me gainfully employed! :)
TIME FOR ROUND 4 - LET'S KEEP FIGHTING: With the 2012 legislative session kicking into high gear, it's time for all of us to do our part once again to Save Our Stores. We start in a good place: Governor Cuomo has rejected the proposal to legalize wine sales wherever beer is sold because it would devastate Mom-and-Pop stores all across New York.

The State Budget Director has said the administration would be more than open to discussing a Wine in Grocery Stores plan if the Legislature adopts one. That is a direct invitation to the Big Box stores to put their money into a campaign targeting legislators. So we all know what we have to do: We must strike first and reach out to our elected leaders to let them know how we feel.
We must also continue our partnership with New York wines. Our promotions are making a difference: Wholesalers who carry New York wines tell us that sales were up about 7 percent in 2011 over the prior year. That is good progress for sure, and we can all be proud of playing a part in that success. But we must do even more.
Let the Governor and the Legislature know that you support funding to promote New York wines. If we can educate more consumers, we will sell more NY wines and that's good for everyone and for our State. The Governor has proposed funding to get this started, but we want to make sure the Legislature agrees as it adopts the budget.
Virginia increased sales of its wines by more than 35 percent when it launched a state-funded promotional campaign. We must do the same and if we have even half the success of Virginia, our wineries will be amazingly successful, and so will traffic in our stores.
Contact the Governor
Make sure the Governor hears from all of us, including family, friends and customers. So
click here to send the Governor a message to thank him for standing strong against WIGS, and to encourage him to support a full-scale campaign to promote New York wines. The Governor is a true champion for small business and needs to know we appreciate it.
