Four months ago, today--
A full season ago--
my best friend for 8 years, 
My lovely cat who hated the world but loved me 
and shared my bed with me every night, 
greeted me every morning, 
and waited for me to get home from school, 
My lovely cat who was sturdy and strong 
and who was supposed to live forever
To spite us all
