Geez, I wish they hadn't let Rusty out of whichever LA crypt he's been living in so he could suck the blood out of the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Okay, so the companion shout outs - to Liz (on the Moonbase) and the Brig (stuck in Peru - AGAIN?!) yesterday, and to (amongst others) Tegan, Ben & Polly, Harry, Dorothy (Ace), and Professors Ian and Barbara Chesterton, today were really lovely. And Katy Manning was as madly dippy and babbly as ever playing Jo Jones (nee Grant), but why the hell did UNIT have to be evil again (and OF COURSE, the evil!UNIT colonel is a character of colour!!! Jesus Rusty, your racial stereotypes are bloody antidiluvian by now!)?! By the way, I'm assuming there was no shout out to Martha because she's gone freelance (my fanon is that Martha Jones quit UNIT over the Osterhagen Key affair, and that she then hooked up with Mickey between 'Journey's End' and 'TW: Children of Earth').

The plot was utter rubbish, and it was very clear that Rusty was just trying to be clever and (as usual) failing badly!!

Also, Rusty, you did the companion jealousy thing to death in 'School Reunion' - why trot it out again here? I know that Sarah Jane's special (she's one of my fave pre-RTD companions after all), but it's not as if the Doctor's been coming around every Sunday for tea, so why make Jo jealous of SJ for having seen the Doctor since SJ stopped travelling with him? It was entirely coincidental - or in the case of last year's 'The Wedding of Sarah Jane', only because the Trickster was trying to unravel Time.

Seriously Rusty just stop trying to write adult female characters, will ya, because you're utterly CRAP at it! (Also, you clearly think the phrase "consistent characterisation" is nothing more than a nicely alliterative phrase!)

My head's aching from the unnecessary head:desking I subjected it to...

That should've been a fun romp and in another writer's hands it probably would have been, but in Rusty's it was mostly epic fail.

And yes, I realise that a lot of other people probably loved it purely because it featured Jo and Eleven - and that's fine if you did - but don't bitch at me for thinking it was rubbish - it's my LJ so I'm entitled to express my point of view here. If you loved it, I'm happy for you, really, but I didn't!
