Grad nights

Parker graduated from high school today!  It was a trip, seeing not only the school again, but all the teachers, and a few friends who were also there for their younger sibs.  Weird weird weird.

He's off to grad night at the moment, and I find myself remembering my own grad night, in the clubhouse at the racetrack.  Morning found us on Indian Rock, watching the sun rise.  I fell asleep on Scott Hannon's couch.  Such days.

Tomorrow morning we're off to Santa Barbara again, and I don the gown and walk the stage on Sunday.  Oy gevalt.

So, here's a bit of news!  I'm still working at Devil's Gulch for the beginning of the summer... BUT!

I got a job writing for Boxtales Theater Company in Santa Barbara!  They're doing a production of The Ramayana, performing at the Lobero in autumn, and they needed someone to write the damn thing.  So, from August through the beginning of October, I'll be with the ensemble, writing the script as it's created by the company!  I AM SO PLEASED.  No only do I have a paying theater job right out of college, but I get to work with some of my very, very favorite people.  Jeff, my magical movement teacher, runs the company with some of his BFA classmates.  (Wild, no?)  And Rudy, Michaun, Sam, and Brytni are all in the company.  OH.  It will be so good.

Yes, it means I have to figure out how I will live in Santa Barbara from August to October, which will be expensive, but we're all more or less in the same situation, and I am confident that it will work out.

Oh, huzzah.  Huzzah!  Aaaand I'm still working on this whole comission thing from the Kennedy Center.  I'm sort of paralyzed by the enormity of the task.  I think I'm going to have to wait until graduation is over before I can really buckle down and think about it.

Well.  Love to all.  I feel strange and lonely.  I think I will change into pajama pants- that often makes things better.

life, job, time, change, theater, endings
