It's been an interesting 24 hr gardening period, with very little actual gardening.
Last night, neighbors came home after a mini accessory spending spree at Sestili Nursery. They brought home a gazillion lady bugs and bottles and bottles of stuff. They've been having some periodic problems with some of their tomato and squash plants. Actually, I personally couldn't believe how dense the aphid population was on a set of their tomato plants. I know their yellow pear is diseased and a zucchini of theirs has powdery mildew.
Anyway, they shared some of the lady bugs with my Wonder Light. Which has been having aphid and whitefly population issues and I was thinking of ordering lady bugs myself. So now, the neighborhood seems to have a major lady bug population. That's great, but Jana isn't sure what to think of the lady bugs yet. She seems to be more delighted to see bees.
I took today off from work. And 3 times today, Jana wanted to go to a neighbor's and pick red and black raspberries. Fortunately, there's a good amount of berries to be picked and shared. There also seems to be a good amount that isn't getting picked in time so, we're thinking of picking as doing a neighbor a favor. :) Really, they introduced the berries to Jana in the first place. She's so hooked though. Come winter, I'm thinking of doing the pruning maintenance on the canes for them at least. They haven't done that themselves in a couple of seasons I think.

And outside of finding a nozzle that is easy enough for Jana to squeeze to water the lawn and garden [read: play with water], that's about all we've done gardening wise.
Oh yeah, we harvested our broccoli to go with today's lunch.
It wasn't much, but enough to offer something really tastey for 2 meals. I have been getting worried about the heat and didn't want to loose the broccoli to bolting.
