Well, some rather depressing news at work. A couple of odd coincidences too. Just to help me remember the coincidences, I'm going to jot down, "chickens and eggs."
Jana is now checking the strawberry planter just about every time she walks by it. Now to talk her out of plucking unripe berries, I divert her to our neighbor's raspberry and black raspberry bushes. :) Fortunately, it's several years old and is a decent producer.
I finally retired the Mtn Princess Tomato. I think I know why it wasn't bearing fruit, it had a giant 5 gallon root ball. In fact, I hardly saw any dirt beyond the roots. Since it was a determinate, I didn't even consider transplanting it.
We were at Lowe's this morning, picked up a bunch of stuff. It looks like our lush lawn has either dollar spot or necrotic ring spot. No thanks to the rains we had last week either. So, we got some major liquid lawn fertilizer to help bring the grass back. So we'll feed it and the reseed. Picked up a small aloe for home and neem. The other stuff were kinda just knick knacks like a part to finish building my 2nd earthbox.
From the morning glory kit from another neighbor, I had 14 seeds germinate out of 29. Not very good [seeds] viability for a brand new seed packet. I get better results from dollar store seeds. I'm not a fan of morning glories on my property. On other properties, no problem. So I have no idea where they're going to go. In the mean time, I transplanted them to one of my deep-root 2.5" seeding tray. I finally cut some coco liner for a metal basket we received as part of a Harry and David's fruit basket. I was going to put the morning glories there, then realized I didn't want to plant anything there that I'll have to transplant later.
My Park's seeds came in this week. Yay. Time to sow. But what? Tough to narrow down. Definitely the
hanging peppers. Maybe I'll put
Impatiens Hybrid Blitz Orange in the Harry and David's metal container. Or maybe
some pink pansies.
My garden list for now:
* finish building 2nd earthbox
* transplant aloe
* transplant other succulent
* transplant cherokee purple (globe), yellow pear and roma to 2nd earthbox (need more potting mix)
* spray wonder light with neem
* feed lawn
* empty out compost tumbler
