First Dentist Trip, Finally...
The kitchen is done on schedule, a tad early actually. They finished at 3:30 and Michael shared beers with the contractors (2). But I'm feeling to ill currently to post pictures. I do want to mention how well Jana's first dental visit went.
We did try to have a visit a year and a half ago. That didn't really go anywhere, she had so much anxiety. They did give her a Princess license themed toothbrush. Luckily, she remembered that. One day, she said she wanted another Princess toothbrush and asked for a trip to the dentist. So the appt was scheduled.
She was filled with a lot of anxiety again, but the hygienist, Paulette, let her have a toothbrush upfront. That helped already, even if it wasn't Princess, it was a Cars one and she was ok. She suggested I sit in the chair with Jana on my lap. Jana was good with that. And Paulette did everything so well. She explained each tool and each procedure in a way Jana understood. We played it by ear...first, it was okay if all they did was count her teeth. Then, it was okay if all they did was clean it, then floss, and eventually polish.
Everything was going well until Paulette said, "Ok, now we wait for the doctor." Jana was stunned, "Doctor? Doctor?" Oh boy, did that turn Jana around. The Dr came in, did a count of her teeth (20 btw) and gave her two thumbs up. Then we scheduled another appt and she got to check out the treasure chest for a treat.
Not bad for a family dentist. Her ped kept suggesting a specific pediatric dentist. I think this will work. And for now, it's find she thinks the hygienist is the dentist. :)
