Jana's tall for her age, it's hard to tell since she's either around other tall kids or older kids. Last I looked into it, she's the 2nd tallest in her class of 21. We got to take advantage of her height this past weekend though. She had asked for her potty reward to go to Soergel's this weekend, instead we wound up at the Ikea ballroom. Their criteria was: minimum 37" (pass), under so many pounds (pass) and potty trained (pass).
We had already gone through some of the store when Michael decided he didn't like anything and wanted to leave. We at least came in 2 cars. Headed back to the entrance, Jana decided she wanted to play in the ballroom. I had 1 hr to shop/browse. I did find these rugs (red, green and orange):
I only got 3 to see how the look and fit in the house, am using them to replace these in Jana's play area in the living room:
It looks like a nice product to transition to and I think I'll be back to pick up more!
I'm thinking of this in her room under a window, I like the idea of sitting on the lower parts and reading a book. There's a darn radiator under the windows so I'll need to check measurements:
There was a bed she really liked, maybe December we'll upgrade. She's currently on a full-size futon mattress. The transition to mattress on floor went very smoothly, and she doesn't roll off any more. It also worked so nicely to be able to snuggle with her on the mattress when it was books time. She kept saying she was ready for a new bed. We'll see.
One hour at the Ikea ballroom was apparently too short for Jana, she wanted to go back in. So the next best thing I could think of was Giant Eagle and signed her into the Eagle's Nest, the children's play area at a grocery store. She gets 90 minutes, but the activities are sedentary. Criteria is easier, you just have to be 3 and if you need a diaper or potty, parent is paged via walkie-talkie. I was at least able to pick up groceries and not forget items on my list.
I liked today's routine with the upcoming winter months. I think the Ikea ballroom will be a regular activity for her. Also, now that she's in a different stage, it's time to update her room and for me to finally finish painting it. :)
