American holidays in other countries are always hard. Even though I've only had experience being in Japan when there are American holidays, I imagine it is hard for other ex-pats, too.

I came back to Japan for one week in America last Tuesday and I'm feeling some major culture shock. :( I hope it goes away soon. I hate feeling like this. I'm in PHL, for those of you who aren't versed in airlines codes, that's Philadelphia. Sky and I decided to break up and travel back separately, since she could get on Jet Blue and get by home 10am when the morning flights out of SJU (San Juan) were full. UVM graduation is this weekend, so there's grads and happy families flocking to Burlington. There are signs out everywhere, congratulating the class of 2011, a class that I'm part of. I have decided to spend my time here in America for as long as it takes to get things straightened out...however I need to go back to Japan to close out my visa and I have until July to do so. The ticket prices out of Japan are in the $4,000 dollar range and it's the highest I've ever seen in my life. It kind of makes me want to throw up ( Read more... )

So, the travels of the past week have taken us pretty far and wide. While that is rather exciting, it's frustrating sometimes. Missing connections and figuring out train stuff is kind of stressful while you're sweating profusely and have 30 pounds of backpack strapped to your back.
