A Mail from Narumi!!! <3

Mar 02, 2010 23:27

I e-mailed Narumi, who was my 'host mother' (I use that phrase broadly as she didn't want to be called 'mother', but really just wanted to called Narumi) to tell her about how I'm going to be in Sapporo and all that jazz. The first e-mail I sent got kicked back to me because her e-mail was too full, and I thought perhaps that it wouldn't work. (I had included a few pictures...) but I re-sent it and then got a response! Yay! :DDDD

Doll's
Festivalかな?
日奈が生まれてはじめての節句なのです。
Sekku, you can check it up with some japanese custom dictionary if you have
something like that.
Momo no Sekku is the day for praying for the healthy growth and happiness
for young girls.
It's on March 3rd.
Tango no Sekku(we call it 'KODOMO no HI) is on May 5th, this is the day for
young boys.
だから、5月の節句のお祝いの時にはメリッサもうちに来てね!

それじゃあまたメールするね。
おみやげについては・・考えておくね。ありがとう!!

楽しみです。
Love,
なるみ
Melissa,
[Translation ahead. My notes are in brackets]
What? Really? That's great news! I'm REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLYY happy! Melissa, when you live in Sapporo we'll have lots of chances to meet up. You can even come and stay with us.
When you come on April 7th what will you do? When will you arrive? Do you have anyone to help you?
Living alone in Sapporo isn't going to be scary! We will give you LOTS of help. So don't stress about it, you can ask us anything.
Hokkaido University of Education is on the opposite side of Kita ku [the northern section of the city] from us, but it is in the same ku.
Ainosato is a nice place. But, it's the countryside, in a very relaxed kind of place. It's not "busy" [she used that English word. XD] at all. It has the chocolate factory! [She took me to the Chocolate factory, that is where they make the very famous Shiroi Koibito cookies. ^^] That's about a half hour drive from my house.
I know a teacher who teaches at HUE. S/he [She never specified] is a very good teacher. Professor Ootsu. I think you'll probably be taking courses with Professor Ootsu. But, I'm really happy~~~!
Today was Hina Matsuri. Do you know about it? You'd call it "Girl's festival"? or maybe "Doll's Festival?" Anyway, it's Hina's first seasonal festival. [This was her text in English.]
Sekku, you can check it up with some japanese custom dictionary if you have something like that. Momo no Sekku is the day for praying for the healthy growth and happiness for young girls. It's on March 3rd. Tango no Sekku(we call it 'KODOMO no HI) is on May 5th, this is the day for young boys.
[End of her English text.]
On Kodomo no hi, you'll have to come to our house and celebrate it with us!
Alright, I'll mail you again later. I'll think about the souveniers and let you know. Thank you! I'm looking forward to it!
Love,
Narumi

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I'm soooo happy! I just barely wrote the response mail so that I wouldn't forget/put it off. ^___^ Yay. Happiness. I'm so happy that I'm going back to Sapporo and that I'll be with a family that actually LOVES me and wants me around! I hope that Kanto will call me 'Oneesan'. :D *melts* I want to be an Oneesan! hee hee hee.

This kind of melts away the stress I was feeling about money. I know that I will have my host family there to rely on. And they'll be able to rely on me, too! I'll offer to babysit and help Narumi out around the house just like I did way back when! I'm very happy. I'll take Kanto to the park and read him stories and take him places and it will be so much fun! And I'll be able to play with Hina! She's such a cutie! She'll be around 7 months when I get there! :D And I bet I'll make better friends with...er....Mr. Koizumi there. (I CANNOT believe I forgot his name...lol...) I can't really say that I blame myself when Narumi calls him Mr. Koizumi, too. And my host grandmother!!! Obaa-san! :D I can't wait to see her, either! She was the most adorable Japanese lady ever! Maybe she'll even teach me enka. *lol* XD

Okay, I'm way too giddy about this right now. :D On to other matters....! I paid off my Bank of America bill completely, so that is really exciting! I gave my month's notice at work and decided to ask for as many shifts as possible. ....today is my only day off now, lol. Since the South Burlington Moe's is closed to have its floors redone, we're getting our normal business and theirs, too! It's crazy hard to have only three people on the line when the line of customers is out the door! Insane! But yeah, I might even get overtime hours for this. :D Who knows? Just getting 38-40 until I leave would be amazing. I have about $950 more to pay off the credit cards and then I'm done with the three most important ones! :D I'm rather proud of myself. No...scratch that, I'm REALLY proud of myself. Working a random part-time job and slimming down my personal debt from $2,500+ to $900 in 5 months is really impressive. :D

Today was Town Meeting Day. Holly, Mom, Addie and I went and voted. Everything got passed but Instant Runoff Voting got repealed, which sucks, but you can't win everything! Now we're getting an addition to the Parking garage at the airport, two new firetrucks, and the school budget got passed. Yay. Democracy at work.

Mom, Holly and I tried to go and get our portraits taken, but that ended in epic fail, lol. We're going to go and try again sometime this week. We'll see.
I went to the gym with Sky and did the squeaky elliptical and went 3 miles in 35 minutes and burned 560 calories. Oh yeah, I'm something else. :D

Alright, I have to work at 8am tomorrow, so I'm going to end this, but yes. HAPPINESS! I've missed ye! :D

democracy, e-mail, sapporo, japan, bills, moe's, voting, happy, narumi
