First, the general update: taking this new job was the best decision I have made in ages. I was aware on some level that work caused me a lot of stress, but it's one thing to know that and another to have a weight lifted from your mind and realize it's been hanging over you for years.
And Chocolate Box! I requested Gregor/Ekaterin, a Vorkosigan crackship for which I mostly blame
hedda62, and received some adorable fanart for the pairing:
Milady by
ExtraPenguinFandom:
Vorkosigan Saga - Lois McMaster BujoldRating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Gregor Vorbarra/Ekaterin Vorsoisson Vorkosigan
I also got a surprise treat:
Kindred (1043 words) by
MeritFandom:
The Divine Cities Series - Robert Jackson BennettRating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Ashara "Shara" Komayd & Vinya Komayd
Summary:Vinya smiles when people talk to her about her niece. Ashara Komayd is brilliant. Ashara Komayd is a genius. Ashara Komayd is destined for greatness - she might even be Prime Minister one day!
This is a dark and very convincing take on Shara and Vinya's relationship pre-canon.
I also wrote two fics in very different fandoms. Guy Gabriel Kay's and Megan Whalen Turner's prose styles are about as different as you can get, and it was fun to attempt both at the same time.
Matters Internal to the State (2904 words) by

And, finally, I did some beta reading for
shewhoguards, who wrote
the other five stories for Queen's Thief in this challenge. I think my favorite of the ones I didn't beta is
Come In, the Water's Lovely.
