December recap

December in point form:

+ Shoes & Sox Christmas party on the 5th.

+ Was offered a summer internship with a small publishing company, Odyssey Books. So exciting! Plus I discovered it through Twitter! Go figure, lol.

+ On the 11th I drove up to Toukley in my new car (the one Nan got when she gave me and Michael Indy. She has now given me this one as well. Need to name it. So far all I've got is Car 2.0). The plan was that I would drive up to Nan and Pop's on Christmas Day, but since I've never driven on the freeway before I wanted to do a practice run before hand. Went very well XD We all got up there in one piece thanks to my excellent driving. Me and mum stayed for the night.

+ However, on the 12th during the drive back to Sydney, Car 2.0 died. While we were still on the freeway. Luckily I was able to get over onto the side of the road before the engine stopped completely. Had to join the NRMA over the phone, then wait for the NRMA guy only for him to tell me that we needed a tow. *sigh* End result: me, Mum and Pop were stuck on the side of the freeway for about two and a half hours in the middle of the day, in the full heat of the Australian sun. I ended up with some very burnt shoulders. Not a fun day. Also: it turned out that I needed a new engine as there was no other way to fix what was wrong.

+ Also on the 12th, that night: BBQ at Marc's for his 27th birthday.

+ Quite a few shifts at work in the lead-up to Christmas.

+ Michael chopped off the tip of his index finger at work on the 20th. He was in the ER and then in a ward for about nine hours before they were able to operate (there wasn't enough to reattach, so now he just has a slightly shorter finger). He's fine thankfully, and the finger is just about all healed up now - I think they're just working on rebuilding strength and sensation and minimizing scar tissue, etc now. And Michael's back at work, on light duties, after a month off. I think Michael enjoys having a war story to tell now, lol (neither of us ever had any broken bones as kids, nor any sort of serious injury, so this is the first real big thing).

+ Also on the 20th, that night: went to see New Moon again, with just Jaime this time. We thought we were the only ones in the cinema, since we didn't sit up the top in the balcony, so we were mocking the movie really quite loudly. We didn't stop for pretty much the whole movie. And then suddenly, when there was only about forty minutes at most left, a woman suddenly appeared behind us and said very angrily, "Do you think you two could shut up and stop ruining it for the rest of us?" We shut up for a couple of minutes then, before proceeding as we had in whispers. Of course, as soon as the last scene ended we pretty much ran out of the cinema before she could come downstairs again, lol. But really, if she was that pissed she should have said something an hour ago and then her movie wouldn't have been ruined because we would have shut up an hour earlier rather than forty minutes before the end. Hard-core Twilight mums = scary. *smirks*

+ Christmas was awesome. Went up to Toukley on Christmas Eve, so we got to see Uncle Pete and Hayden, and Lani, Sam and their new little boy Rex (born October 22nd, and named after our Pop). Then me and Michael got the train back to Dad's on Christmas morning, so we got to see all the Rea family. And then Marc and Chelsea came over to Dad's on Boxing Day.

+ Saw Avatar with Dad, Joy, Michael and Alinta on the 27th. It was good, but aside from the awesome graphics I didn't think it was anything to really rave about. And I thought it could have definitely been shorter.

+ New Year's Eve: was meant to go to Nat's with the girls but had a cold so ended up staying home, watching Human Nature with the Sydney Symphony on tv, and then reading in bed. Very exciting night *winks*
