If you're in academia - dont' do this

Aug 11, 2008 11:13

I don't know if it's the fact that professors are used to talking down to students, or they're used to being the "authority' in their field or they're used to agressive peer reviews.

But for the second time in three weeks, I've gotten a negative review on one of my firefox paranormal articles.  In each review, the professor has

1. Called me a quack.
2. Accused me of not doing research.
3. pointed to their own website for more information on the subject.

Now what's actually going on is that they're trying to drive traffic to their site by positioning themselves as an authority on the subject, but for heaven's sake.

1. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't smear people just to get web traffic.
2. I'm a journalist.  I know how to do reacherch. Plus, Entertainment piece.  On a website.  Not an academic paper.
3. See #1.
