If you're in academia - dont' do this

I don't know if it's the fact that professors are used to talking down to students, or they're used to being the "authority' in their field or they're used to agressive peer reviews.

But for the second time in three weeks, I've gotten a negative review on one of my firefox paranormal articles.  In each review, the professor has

Not the same professor each time. Different professors. I think they're just trying to drive traffic to their websites.

I am so completely disgusted by that idea. What? They can't get their fat butts out there and create their own traffic, so they suck off of yours?

I reiterate:

DOUCHE. BAGS.

WHat? Seriously, anyone who has nothing better to do with their time than look up entertainmetn pieces on the internet and claim to be an expert on the subject is not someone I'd ever consult on anything!

It's a minor annoyance, but It dosen't give academics in general a good image, if this is a sterling example.

Huh. Maybe they're not trying to drive up traffic on their sites. More likely they're stroking their own egos. Any traffic increase is likely an afterthought.

Not that that's any better of course. Really. You refer people to primary sources and verifiable sources, not web sites, when you're complaining about poor research.

Yeesh.

That's no way to encourage a student! What assholes! And strictly for their own benefit, too! I'd report both of them to the Dean, I really would. They sound like they should have their licenses to teach revoked! Love, Robin

I'm not a student anymore (and haven't been for years). I just noticed that both of the last bits of negative feedback for my paranormal blogs have been professors, which dosen't speak well for the ivory tower.
