druidmage has made it safely to Kuwait. He'll be there for a short while before moving on to his final destination. We've been lucky and gotten to talk on the phone or on the computer once a day since he left. It's good hearing his voice and he says it's good to hear mine. So far this deployment seems to be starting off better than the last one.
Gavin and I had a blast at playgroup today. I was so caught up chatting with some of the other mothers while watching the kids play that I didn't even realize how quickly the time passed. I was so surprised when someone said "What time is it? It's clean-up time." I hadn't looked at my watch once since we arrived. I traded note cards with names, address and phone number with one of the other moms. We've had so much fun talking these last few months that we might try to get together outside of playgroup.
The last two nights Gavin has woken up early in the morning, crawled into bed with me, asked for a cup, drank half and then fallen asleep next to me. I probably shouldn't let him, but I have. I don't plan on letting it become a habit. I'll give it one more night and then I'll start taking him back to his room.
I finally heard back from my mom and she's planning on stopping in this weekend. She'll either come in Friday after she gets off work or get up early Saturday and come over. She said she'll be here until Monday afternoon. It will be good seeing her and I think she will be relieved to see how well Gavin and I are taking the deployment.
One thing I'm considering doing soon is getting new curtain rods for the living room and kitchen (double ones) so I can hang sheers up under the curtains. It's been so pretty and sunny lately that I want to pull the curtains back to let in the light, but I still want to have a little privacy. I don't plan on making the sheers. I'll shell out the money for those unless they are terribly expensive. I'm also considering redoing the curtains in the living room and kitchen at the same time. I'm tired of them hanging way past the bottom of the windowsills and I can always use the fabric that is trimmed to make tie backs.
Well I need to try and get some sleep. Since Mom's coming to town I want to try and get some cleaning done before she gets here, but that requires rest to do well. Plus I don't want to wake Gavin if I get a little noisy with the cleaning.
