How come Mass Market Paperbacks get the shaft?

So Hastings neglected to tell me on the phone when I called before we decided to haul the huge container of books that they don't take back Mass Market Paperbacks, only Trade Paperbacks and Hardbacks. *Shakes fist* If I had known that to begin with we would have used a much smaller container for the books we could sell back (25-30 vs. approx. 150). We managed to trade in the ones we could this weekend. They took all but three and we got about $50 in store credit that was promptly spent. Finally found "Ah! My Goddess" TV Series Vol. 2 and they had Vol. 3 so snagged them both.

So now to decided what to do with the rest of the books we have. I'm considering using the "Sell Yours Here" function on Amazon.com, but worry that it won't be worth it. Has anyone ever used it before to sell books? Does it actually work? How long was your book listed before it sold?
