I had a dream today (I don't exactly sleep at night on the weekends) that Arthur, while being an amazing pointman and extractor, was in his spare time also an activist who used ARSON as a way of getting his voice heard in whichever the particular cause may be. But he would frame whoever he tricked into accompanying him during that particular heist with the arson. The man would ignite whole buildings, warehouses, anything really to get his point across. Seemed quite passionate about it.
Yes, I actually dreamt that. I'm wondering if I had read something like that in a story I can't remember or did my brain really come up with it? Because if that is the case I am hard pressed to find a reason why not to write that into a story right this second. That's some pretty good shit right there.
Okay. There comes a time when you run across a piece of fanfic so good you wonder why this person is even wasting time trolling behind a computer writing about their OTP instead of going out and getting published. I have read a story this morning, friends, that has blown me away. And wait until I read you the prompt: "The team takes on a job whose mark is into the BDSM lifestyle. They go under with Eames as Arthur's sub, because Arthur is, in real life, a dom."
...
Reading this prompt made me skip by the story at least three times initially. I was thinking all the same things you are. I don't want to read some kinky BDSM shit, I want a love story, I want this I want that. FRIENDS, YOU HAVE GOT TO READ THIS MOTHERFUCKING STORY. The writer is first and foremost an outstanding writer. Even if I'm not into BDSM, her writing made me love the story. It is also not your typical Eames/Arthur with the stereotypes of the film, yet they are still very much their characters. They just aren't as one dimensional as so many of these stories make them. It also beyond all else opens you up to this BDSM world and what it is all about with OUT making you feel weird, sick, or uncomfortable. Arthur's character is ingenuously written in this, and it IS a love story. Quite a beautiful one. You've gotta read it to believe it.
