Just committed myself to the MTAC conference (Music Teachers' Association of California) in Oakland this July. I'm hoping I'll be able to set aside more cash this summer to still make it to the SPN con in August. *fingers crossed* Chicago is definitely still a go. :D

Tomorrow morning I am in running in my first 5K race for the year: The Frost or Fog. It will actually be neither frosty nor foggy, though we've had plenty of that around here the past few weeks. It warmed up today and tomorrow it will be partly cloudy and 61F/16C.

Had an MTAC board meeting this morning; went for the French Toast instead of the usual pancakes. Nom!

Went for a run in the early afternoon. Then raked the leaves off of grandma's lawn. Just for kicks, I left my heart rate monitor on (the one I wear while running) while raking the leaves - I burned 800 calories in 2 1/2 hours.

Friday afternoon, I got a frantic call from a soprano looking for an accompanist for a CD recording session on Tuesday of 3 pieces for an audition at a big music school (the name escapes me now ( Read more... )

I am in charge of Certificate of Merit this year for my branch of MTAC.  Certificate of Merit is a music exam for piano, strings, woodwinds and voice. The exam is split into 3 portions: performance, written (music theory), and ear training (listening and identifying music patterns ( Read more... )

Last night, I cut the inside of my lower lip with my finger nail as I was flossing. O_o Ow. First time for everything. And my nails aren't really long. The past 48  hours have been such a blur! I was up till 2am last night finishing a budget/income/expense spreadsheet thingy for a grant request proposal that our Youth Orchestra director emailed to me late Tuesday night.

Didn’t get to sleep in at all this weekend.  : ( Yesterday was Certificate of Merit testing for MTAC, so I was up and at it bright and early. Many keyboard, string, voice and woodwind students took a written theory exam and performed technic and performance pieces for an evaluator.
