"Will I see him again? Is he still in love with me? Will he take me back?" These are just some of the thoughts that ran through his head as the plane descend at the Narita Airport. He told him he was hurt and it's over between them when he left two years ago. But that was a lie. There is a bigger reason why he had to leave and only one person knew why.
His heart was trying to get out of his rib cage when the attendants informed them that they can now deplane. But realizing that no one knows he's coming back today--well, except for that person--eased his rapid-beating heart a little bit. He would have to deal with his personal life later after he checked on his best friend.
He was standing on the curb waiting for a taxi when someone approached him. He was planning to ignore that person who he thought must have mistaken him for someone else. That was until that person called out his name.
"Kame?!"
His eyes almost popped out of their socket when he realized that it was Nishikido Ryo who was standing in front of him.
'This is bad,' Kazuya thought. 'He's the last person I would want to see today. But it wouldn't be a problem if he's over with Tat-chan, right? Should I be happy that he's move on if that was the case?' Kazuya shook his head trying to clear his mind.
"Ryo?! Wow! I didn't expect to run into someone I know as soon as I get off the plane," Kazuya said trying to sound nonchalant so that his nervousness would not be noticed. "You're going on a trip?" 'I hope you are,' he added in his mind.
"No! No! I dropped off Jin and Pi. They have a merger to finalize in California. But they would be back in a couple of weeks," Ryo explained. He noticed the sadness that passed through Kazuya's eyes when he mentioned Jin. "Where were you all this time? Oh, sorry to interrogate you here. I know you must be tired from the flight. Let me drive you home."
"Eh? No... That's fine... I can take a cab," Kazuya hesitated.
"I insist. I haven't seen you in a while and I would love to have a chat; if you're up to it," Ryo said. This might be the only chance he has to know where Tatsuya is. Kazuya might not show himself again if he let the younger man leave.
"Ok then," Kazuya said. 'Guess I have no choice. This time has come. He would definitely ask for explanations. But if he's over Tat-chan, maybe not...' Kame pondered.
Ryo helped him pull his trolley to the spot where Ryo's car is parked. They hauled the luggage into the vehicle in silence. It was only when they were pulling out of the parking lot when Ryo initiated a conversation updating Kazuya on his best friends. It went on for a few minutes until Ryo decided to veer the topic towards Tatsuya.
"So where were you all these time?"
"Umm... France," Kazuya answered not giving any additional details. 'Oh boy, I think it's starting,' he thought.
"Why are you staying in a hotel?"
"I sold my apartment when I left. And it's closer to where I would frequent to now that I'm back. It would depend on how things would go whether I would get an apartment or not," Kazuya explained.
"Umm... Ano..." Ryo hesitated. "Do you know where Tatsuya is?"
"He left you, right? Why are you looking for him? It's been two years already," Kazuya said. 'I have to know why you're looking for Tat-chan, then I'll decide if I tell you or not. I won't let you hurt my best friend,' he thought.
"I just want to know where he is," Ryo said.
"That's the hotel where I'd be staying," Kazuya interrupted. Ryo parked the car.
"Thank you for the ride. Say hello to your best friends for me," he said as he open the door.
Ryo grabbed his arms with a death grip but when he turned, he saw pleading teary eyes.
"Please, Kame," Ryo begged. "It doesn't matter if he's moved on or in another relationship. I won't bother him. I just want to know where he is. I want to say sorry for all the things I've done to him. I... I still love him. I never stopped loving him." Ryo was crying now. He can't stop the tears from falling. There is a big chance that Tatsuya has already forgotten him. And just that thought already breaks his heart into millions of pieces.
Kazuya saw the honesty in Ryo's eyes. He sees that he is suffering the same way his best friend is. 'Maybe there's still a chance for them. Tat-chan, I know you don't want him to know but he loves you. I just hope he'd be able to accept you still when he knows,' he thought.
Kazuya sighed. "We were together in France but I haven't seen nor heard from him for the past three months."
"Do you know where he is now? How was he? Is he doing well?" Ryo can see a glimmer of hope.
"He's been in the country for the past three months. I came home later because I need to sell our apartment," Kazuya explained.
Ryo didn't miss the phrase "our apartment." 'Are they together now? Did they become a couple because of what Jin and I did to them?'
"I'm visiting him tomorrow. Come back here at 9 am if you want to see him. But I can't promise if he would want to see you," Kazuya said before stepping out of the car. Ryo followed suit and helped him with his luggage. Kazuya entered the hotel without a second look at Ryo. It was hurting him to look at him. He prayed silently that Ryo's love won't waver when he knew the truth.
When Kazuya has settled in his hotel, he picked up his phone. After a few rings, the line was picked up.
"Kazu-chan, you've arrived?"
"Hai. I'm in the hotel now. I'll visit you in the morning okay?"
"Un. I would really need you here tomorrow."
"Nande? Are you okay? How are you feeling?"
"Daijobou. You worry too much. I'm feeling much better. The results will come out tomorrow that's why you have to be here. I'm hoping for a favorable findings."
"Hai. It's good to be positive and not lose hope, ne? Ne, Tat-chan, I'll take a rest and I'll see you in the morning."
"Un. Arigato, Kame. I don't know what I would do without you," Tatsuya said before giggling.
Kame smiled. His friend sounds like he's feeling better. "You wouldn't know because I'll always be here. Ja."
"Ja."
Ryo drove away with thousands of thoughts running through his mind. 'What would I do if the two of them are together now? Will I get a chance to make Tatsuya mine again? Why haven't I seen him if he came back three months ago? Was he avoiding me? Is he still mad at me?'
He wanted to call Jin or Pi but he knows would have to wait for a few more hours before he can reach them. Feeling restless, he drove around without a destination. After a few hours, he found himself back in the park where he confessed to Tatsuya. He broke down. He has mixed emotions on finally seeing Tatsuya after two years. He cried for a good 30 minutes. After he calmed down, he drove home but anxiety and nervousness made him lose his appetite. He sat on his couch, staying clear from the bedroom for fear of the memories.
He didn't realize that he has fallen asleep until his phone rang. With half-closed eyes, he reached for his mobile phone and fumbled until he pressed the right button.
"Ryo-chan!!! I miss you!" Jin's cheery voice woke him up.
"JIN! Do you realize that it's fucking 2 am in the morning here in Japan? Weren't you even jet-lagged?" Ryo growled on the mouthpiece.
"Mou~ Grumpy old man! I just miss you. Is that bad?"
"If you knew that I've been through an emotional roller coaster after you guys left, you wouldn't be bothering me now. But then again, knowing you, probably you would."
"What happened?" Jin asked.
"Kame came out from the arrival gate after you guys boarded your plane," Ryo summarized. "I asked him about Tatsuya and he said he came back three months ago. He would visit him tomorrow and I'm coming with him. I don't know what to expect or how I feel right now. All I know is that I want to seem him badly."
Jin sighed. "I know what you mean. I hope I would be able to come back soon and Kazu is still there. Good luck on meeting Tat-chan. I'll let you sleep now."
"Thanks, man. I'll let you know what happened."
"You better. I'll tell Pi what we've talked about. We'll try to be home as soon as possible."
"Thanks." Before Jin could hang up, Ryo is already back in slumber.
The following morning, Ryo came early and was in the hotel ten minutes before 9. He informed the front desk and Kazuya came down promptly at 9.
"Sorry. I think I still have a jet lag," Kazuya said as he approached Ryo.
"That's okay. So where are we going," he said as he take out his car keys.
"We're walking. I told you yesterday that I was staying closer to where I need to be, remember? It's just a couple of blocks away," Kazuya said.
"Oh, okay."
The two of them walked in silence, both thinking deeply. One was worried about his best friend and the other anxious at seeing the love of his life. After a few minutes, Kame stopped in front of a building.
"Why are we here?" Ryo asked.
"We're visiting Tat-chan. He's been staying here these past three months," Kazuya said sounding somber than he intend to.
"What are you talking about? It's a hospital, Kame. And the sign says "National Cancer Center." Are you fucking kidding me?!" Ryo was getting agitated.
"I wish I was kidding. He left you two years ago because he found out he has cancer," Kazuya said failing to stop a tear from falling.
A/N: I thought it would only be two parts but then it went on and on again. So there would be another part. How do you find it so far? Am I boring you with the story already?
