Summary: Ueda Tatsuya thought there’s zero percent chance his love will be returned. So he thought the best way is to move on with his life. He thought he’d be satisfied just to see him and love him from afar. Nishikido Ryo, on the other hand, thought that he hates Ueda Tatsuya-or at least that’s what he wants other people to think-when in fact, he’s in love with Tatsuya. He thought that since he’s been cruel to the older man, there would never be a chance for him to love him back. Oh, how wrong they both were!

CHAPTER 5
It’s been two weeks since Tatsuya bumped into Ryo along the corridors. But the weird things just keep on coming. First, he still doesn’t know who sent him the bento. Scratch that. Bentos. For the past week, a bento would randomly appear on his desk whether for breakfast or lunch. As if the person sending them knows every time he skips his meal. He knows it comes from the same person because of the note that comes with it. The note with the same handwriting tells him to eat properly and take care of himself. When the first bento showed up, he was wary as to what the intention of the sender is. And at one point, he was worried that he may have a stalker. But as the days progress, he’s been looking forward to receiving the bento knowing that another one of his favourite foods would be inside.
Secondly, Ryo has been nicer to him. If you call not throwing you insults whenever you’re both within 5-mile radius nice. But yeah, he’s nicer than he could ever hope the younger man could be towards him. And this morning he could swear he slept walk to the Jimusho when Ryo held the elevator for him, greeted him good morning and talked to him about the weather-WITH A SMILE.
He shrugged his shoulders and thought, ‘There’s nothing really wrong if he’s nicer. I know he’s nice and very sweet among his friends. It’s just kind of weird when he’s suddenly nice to me.’
When he entered the dressing room, he wasn’t surprised that no one’s there. It’s already late and he stayed behind to polish the dance steps. He left the rehearsal room only when he was satisfied he had it pat down.
‘It would be nice to have one of those bentos right now. I’m so tired I don’t think I have the energy to cook dinner. I guess I’ll just go for a takeout then,” he thought with a sigh.
When he went to grab his bag from locker, he saw a bento sitting on top of his desk. But this one didn’t look like it’s homemade. There was no doubt though as to whom this bento came from because as usual, it has the same note with the same handwriting.
Otsukaresama deshita, Tatsuya
You must be tired from your dance practice.
I was worried about you. It’s already late and you’re still practicing.
You might be too tired to even grab a takeout so I thought of sending you a bento.
Take care on your way home!
^_^
He put the note in his planner along with the notes he received from the previous bentos. He picked up the bento and walked out of the room with a smile.
Tatsuya didn’t receive any bento today. He wasn’t sad because he doesn’t have free food but because he’s worried something happened to his secret admirer. He’s been thinking of scenarios as to why that person wouldn’t be sending him bento today. He’s still thinking about his secret admirer when he met Ryo on his way out to grab lunch.
“Ueda, you’re going out for lunch?” Ryo asked. To which Tatsuya just answered with a nod.
“Can I join you? I was held up by one of my managers and the rest of my group have had their lunch already. I don’t like eating alone and since you’re on your way to grab lunch...” he didn’t finish his sentence and look at Tatsuya expectantly.
“Sure. No problem with me,” Tatsuya answered with a blush. ‘God! I just hope it wouldn’t be too awkward. I’m so nervous!’
‘Ah~ Hime! Don’t look so cute! I might not be able to stop myself and kiss you!’
Despite of Tatsuya’s apprehension, the lunch with Ryo turned out quite nice. The conversation flowed freely between them as if they have been friends for a long time. They talked about food, good restaurants, books and of course, music. Before they know it, their lunch time is already over.
“I’ll pay for today’s lunch. You can pay the next time we get to eat lunch together,” Ryo said. ‘And if it were up to me, I’d have lunch with you every day.’
“Fine by me,” Tatsuya replied.
After paying for their meal, they walked back to the Jimusho while talking about music. They were about to go inside the building when Tatsuya’s phone rang.
Ring Ring
“Moshi moshi~”
“Tatsu, I’m across the street in the dark blue car,” Katrina answered.
Tatsuya looked across the street and saw a hand waving from the window of a dark blue car. He turned to Ryo and said, “I just need to talk to someone. Thanks for the lunch. Let’s do that again some time.”
Ryo frowned and watched Tatsuya cross the street and approach a dark blue car. He watched as a woman stepped out of the car and gave Tatsuya a peck on the cheek. He saw Tatsuya hugged her and smiled sweetly. His heart can’t bear the scene that he was seeing so he chose to go inside the building before he witness something that might shred his heart into a million of pieces.
Across the road, the two persons were chatting happily.
“What brought you to this side of town?” Tatsuya asked.
“I just wanted to see you before I leave for Osaka and I’d be there for a while. A couple of weeks to a month,” came the reply
“What are you doing in Osaka? And why didn’t you mention it earlier?”
“Well, the schedule was suddenly changed. I’m not supposed to be there for another week or so. But it turned out that your Nishikido would be going to Osaka tomorrow for whatever activities that he has. So they decided to move up the schedule of the photo shoot as well. The photo shoot is actually just a few days but I need to stay because I’m going to look at a property,” Katrina explained.
“I see... So he’d be in Osaka starting tomorrow. Eh? What property?”
“I’m planning to open a branch of my hotel in Osaka. I’m still looking for a nice location. I have offers that I’m going to look into while I’m there.”
“Ok, I guess I won’t be seeing you for a while. Don’t forget to call me, ok? And if you need anything, let me know and I’ll go to Osaka right away.”
Katrina laughed and said, “Don’t act like my mom. I’ll go ahead now. I’ll call you. Ja!” After the car left, Tatsuya walked back to the Jimusho.
When Ryo returned to their dressing room, he was met by his manager informing him that he was to go to Osaka and the photo shoot for the print ad will be on the day after tomorrow. After that conversation, Ryo slumped on the couch and closed his eyes, lost in his own thoughts.
Ryo thought that being nicer to Tatsuya would earn him a spot in the older man’s heart. But from what he saw earlier, it looks like he hasn’t succeeded in doing so. He’s starting to feel depressed again. But he thought that compared to all the times that he’s been mean to Tatsuya, it would take more than two weeks of being nice before his hime acknowledge that he’s changed. ‘That means I shouldn’t give up. At least not yet. Not until I’ve done all I can do,’ was his last thoughts before leaving for the day. He still have to drop by his apartment before leaving for Osaka tonight.
If Ryo was depressed, Tatsuya on the other hand is having a good mood. He had a nice lunch with Ryo and thinks that they could be friends now. There were a lot of things he learned about the man he loves today and the more he knows about him, the more he falls in love with him. He thinks that maybe someday he’ll have the courage to confess. That is MAYBE. He smiled to himself and proceeded to the rehearsal room where his band mates are waiting for their next activity today.
A few days later in Osaka...
Ryo entered the dressing room for the photo shoot. He noticed that the makeup artists are already there but can’t see anyone that looks like his partner. Although he hasn’t really seen her face but he can’t see anyone model-like. As he walked to his corner, he saw the director came in with a girl.
“Ohayou, minna,” the director greeted them. “We’d be starting in two hours. I want my models look perfect by then. Oh, by the way, Nishikido-san I believe you have not been properly introduced yet. This is Katrina-san she’d be your partner for the print ad.”
“Finally, we’ve met. I’ve been wanting to meet you for a very long time. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu,” Katrina said with a beautiful smile.
