Summary: Ueda Tatsuya thought there’s zero percent chance his love will be returned. So he thought the best way is to move on with his life. He thought he’d be satisfied just to see him and love him from afar. Nishikido Ryo, on the other hand, thought that he hates Ueda Tatsuya-or at least that’s what he wants other people to think-when in fact, he’s in love with Tatsuya. He thought that since he’s been cruel to the older man, there would never be a chance for him to love him back. Oh, how wrong they both were!

CHAPTER 6
Ryo have a feeling that he’s seen Katrina before-and no it’s not when they had a meeting for the print ad. He’s been wracking his brain to remember where or when he’s seen her but to no avail. So he resorted to watching her.
He was observing her the whole morning of the photo shoot. He noticed that although she doesn’t seem like she’s very approachable, she makes the people around her at ease by starting the conversation. She has a beautiful smile-that kind that lights up the whole room and ease out the atmosphere. She’s friendly towards everybody and listens as if she’s eager to know everything about the person he’s talking to. She looks elegant at whatever outfit she was made to wear and graceful even when just standing still.
‘Just like my hime,’ Ryo thought. And then when he continued to observe her, he finds that most of her mannerisms are similar to Tatsuya-the way she tilts her head or bit her lower lip. ‘It’s like Hime but the female version. But of course, my hime is still more beautiful,’ and he blushed at that thought.
“That’s kinda offending, you know,” came a melodic voice from his side.
“AAHHH!!!” Ryo shouted. It’s a good thing they are on lunch break and most of the staffs are having lunch. But still those who are inside the dressing room looked at him funny.
“You scared me! How long have you been sitting there? And what do you mean offending?” Ryo asked.
Katrina laughed at the look on Ryo’s face and said, “I’ve been sitting beside you for a good 10 minutes. And you’re thinking out loud. It’s offending when a man can be more beautiful than a woman.”
‘And I thought hooking you up with Tatsu will be a tough job. I didn’t know it could be so easy. You already like Tatsu! Yosh!’ Katrina thought and giggled in her mind.
Ryo blushed furiously at that. 'Fuck! She heard me! She might think I’m crazy! Oh no! She might have realized that I’m gay! SHIT!’
“Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone,” she said with a smile. “I know how to keep a secret. My best friend is gay too. I think I’m the only one who knows. Oh no! Now you know too! But you don’t know who he is so that’s still good.”
“Thank you,” was all the reply that came from Ryo. He is relieved that he’d keep his secret but he doesn’t know how to keep the conversation going. ‘I guess that’s her difference with Tatsuya. I can talk easily with hime maybe because he's a guy.'
“I didn’t mean to pry but I’m really curious. You have a boyfriend?” Katrina asked.
“I don’t,” Ryo replied and bowed his head. “I like someone but I don’t have the courage to confess because I might get rejected. I have not been particularly nice to that person. It would definitely be a shock when I suddenly profess my undying love, right?”
Ryo find Katrina easy open up with. It’s like they have a connection or something. And she looks like she's eager to know more about him. Maybe because like she said, her best friend is gay. Maybe that’s why he can’t help but tell her his dilemma.
“Then start by being nice. Talk to him more often. And when you’re almost friends, ask him out for dinner or a drink. Then get his number and get in touch more often. When he’s comfortable around you, then go ahead with your confession,” Katrina advised. ‘Let’s see if you’ll do it. I’ve been telling Tatsu to do the same thing for years and he hasn’t done a thing!’
“I am being nicer to him these past few weeks. I even give him bentos every day. But he doesn’t know the bentos are from me. And we went out for lunch before I left Tokyo. But I don’t know. I think he already has a girlfriend.”
‘What?! So the bentos are from you... Wait! You had lunch together? Why didn’t I know about it? Argh! I’m going to shave your head again, Tatsu!’ she thought.
“Eh? Why do you think that? Have you seen him with the girl?”
‘It would be bad if he saw me with Tatsu. It would be harder for me to get them together.’
“I haven’t really,” said Ryo hesitantly. “I followed him to a hotel once when I heard that he’s having dinner with someone but I didn’t really see who he’s meeting. And then the other day, someone visited him at the Jimusho. She was looking the other way that’s why I didn’t see her face. But I saw she gave him a peck on the cheek and a hug. What do you think?”
“Maybe you’re just jumping into conclusions. Maybe she’s just a good friend or perhaps his sister. Don’t assume things. It will just cause unnecessary misunderstandings,” she supplied. Suddenly her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and said, “I have to take this call. We’ll work out your love life in a bit, ok?”
“Hey, hun! What’s up?” She answered.
“Nothing. I just miss you and want to know how you are,” Tatsuya replied.
“Me or him?” She laughed before continuing, “Just kidding. I miss you too and I’m on lunch break. About him, he’s love sick but he’s alright.”
“Huh? Who’s lovesick?”
“Don’t play dumb! I think he misses you too! You owe me a lot you know, I’m being the perfect best friend.”
There was a pause on the other line and then, “KATRINA! What are you planning in your devil of a mind again?!”
“Himitsu desu! I’ll call you again tonight, ne~? Love you! Ja!” And she hung up. She turned to her side and said, “So, what were we talking about?”
Tatsuya looked at his phone in disbelief. ‘She dared to hang up on me?! You are so gonna get it when I see you again! Argh! I didn’t even get to tell her why I called. I’ll call her again later.’
The rest of the photo shoot went well. And most staffs will notice that the two models have been getting along quite well. They even sit together during breaks and chatted. The atmosphere in the set was great and the chemistry between Ryo and Katrina made the shoot a success.
“Nishikido-kun...”
“Just call me Ryo. After all, I have told you a lot of things I haven’t even told my own best friends.”
“Ok. Then, you can call me Katrina. It was nice working with you,” she said with a slight bow. “I’d be in Osaka for another week or so. You can call me if you need advice or just someone to talk to.”
“I will definitely do that. Maybe we can have dinner or something.”
“That would be great. I’ll wait for your call then.”
“Hai! And thank you for your advice and suggestions,” Ryo said before walking out of the dressing room.
As soon as Ryo left, Katrina took out her phone and dialled a number.
“Tatsu, why didn’t you tell me you had lunch with him? How can you keep something like this a secret from me?” she said as soon as the line was picked up. Not even bothering saying a greeting.
“Woah! Slow down baby! Don’t nag. That’s what I’m supposed to tell you earlier when I called...”
The two best friends talked on the phone until Katrina is back in her hotel room.
“By the way, Tatsu, let’s have dinner at my place when I get back to Tokyo. Bring Kame-chan with you. I haven’t seen him in ages.”
“That would be great! I remember Kazu saying that he wants to see you too. I’ll call him later. Umm... Can I invite another friend? I promised someone I’d introduce you to him,” Tatsuya asked.
“Playing matchmaker?”
“Not really. More like he thought you were my girlfriend. And he wants to meet you. He kept on bugging me for the past few weeks and I told him that I will introduce you so that he will stop.”
“Oh ok. But better clear that up. If that reach Nishikido-san, it would be harder for you to confess.”
“Who says I’m going to confess?”
“Ueda Tatsuya, I am not having this conversation with you again. For the past three years, you’ve had your feelings bottled up. You have to do it. Whatever his answer is, you’d be able to live through it. It’d be fine. And I’m pretty sure the answer would be positive.”
“How can you be so sure about that?”
“I just know. I’m getting into the shower and tucking in for the night after that. I’ll talk to you again tomorrow. Bye, Tatsu! Love you!”
“Ja~ Love you too!”
The following day during lunch time, Tatsuya came into the dressing room and saw his band mates crowding his table.
“What are you looking at?” Tatsuya greeted.
“Oh, Tat-chan! This came in for you,” Kame said holding a bouquet of roses.
“Eh?! Does it have a card?” Tatsuya took the flowers and opened the card.
It read:
I hope this would help make up for not cooking for you these past few days.
I just want to let you know you weren’t forgotten and that you are dearly missed.
Please take care of yourself until I get back.
I hope to see your smile again when I return.
Tatsuya smiled after reading the letter which earned him curious looks from his band mates. But before they can even ask from whom the flowers are from, one of the staffs poked her head into the room to inform them that lunch break is over.
During the following days, Tatsuya received different gifts from his secret admirer. His band mates have been teasing him about his mysterious suitor and are curious as to who it could be.
Tatsuya, on the other hand, is more than pleased by the gifts that he has received. He’s still curious as to why the person giving him gifts knows his favourite things. He even once thought that confessing to Ryo would not be that bad. At least, if he ever got rejected, he can turn his feelings towards his secret admirer. It wouldn’t be that hard since that person seemed to be caring and romantic.
Back in Osaka, Katrina is finishing getting ready to go back to Tokyo when she received a phone call.
Ring Ring
“Moshi moshi!”
“Katrina-chan? I’m at the hotel lobby,” came the answer from the other line.
“Ah! Ryo-kun! I’d be down in a bit,” she said as she zipped her luggage and rolled it out of the room where a hotel attendant took the suitcase and they went down to the lobby.
Flashback to a few days earlier
“Thank you for going out to dinner with me,” Ryo said as he was dropping off Katrina at the hotel.
“I should be the one thanking you. It was my first time going to that restaurant. And I really enjoyed your company. We should do this again when we return to Tokyo. That reminds me, I’m having dinner with some of my friends over at my place next Friday. Will you please join us? Are you back in Tokyo by then?”
“I’m actually going back on Friday afternoon. So I guess it should be fine. That is, if your friends don’t mind you bringing a stranger.”
“Nonsense. It’s fine. I’m also going back on Friday. Why don’t we just go back together? That way you won’t have to buy tickets for the train. I brought a car with me,” she offered.
“I could not possibly let you drive for me all the way to Tokyo.”
“Don’t worry that’s my driver’s job,” she said with a smile.
“Oh, okay then. I’ll be at the lobby by 2PM on Friday,” Ryo said.
End of flashback
“Thank you for waiting. Let’s go! I can’t wait to get home,” Katrina said as they walk out of the lobby.
A few hours later, they are already back in Tokyo.
“Finally, we’re back. I wonder what’s for dinner tonight!” she said excitement obvious in her voice.
“Ryo-kun, we’re here,” she said as she nudged the person sleeping beside her.
Ryo woke up from his slumber when he felt someone shaking him. When he opened his eyes and look at where they are, his eyes almost popped out of their sockets and jaw dropped on the floor. He stepped out of the car looking at the magnificent but oh-so-familiar hotel thinking, ‘Isn’t this where I saw Hime went that night?’
He looked at the woman beside him and asked, “You live here?”
She just smiled and said, “Yes, I own the hotel and I live at the penthouse. Come on. Dinner’s waiting."
