YRG: Week 2 & other things

Jun 17, 2012 09:21

This was the 2nd week of doing the YRG workout. I was doing the 20 minute workout, which is really just an introduction type of workout so you can learn all the moves. I probably could have jumped right into the doing the 40 minute workout everyday, but doing this one really gave me the chance to learn the moves. One of the things I really like is that throughout the workout, DDP tells you to make the workout your own and to cheat until you don't have to cheat anymore. In other words, do the best you possibly can, even if you're not doing exactly the same way he is. If you have to go down to your knees for the pushups, go down to your knees and eventually you'll gain more strength/stability and you won't have to go to your knees anymore. It's very encouraging in that way.

I also did the 60 minute workout last week. I really wish I had more time in the mornings to be able to do it. The hour goes by very quickly, but I only have about an hour from the time I wake up until the time I have to start getting ready for work, eating breakfast, etc. Each of the workouts build on each other, so the 20 minute is like the intro, the 40 minute is one step up from that, and then the hour one builds on the 40 minute.

Results wise, I don't know if there's been any weight change. I'm not really trying to lose weight, but at the same time, I wouldn't complain if I lost a few pounds either. I have a cardiologist appointment at the end of next month so if I stick with it I'll be able to see if there are some results. I'm sticking with it exclusively for the rest of this month. After that, I think I'll go back to some JM workouts and alternate with YRG. I think you're technically supposed to switch up your routine every 10 days or so for muscle confusion, but I don't know how that works with yoga when you're using your own body strength and resistance.

Finally had to charge my Nook yesterday. I was trying to let the battery die completely but apparently it automatically shuts off when it gets to 5%. I've been using it A LOT and had it for a month, so it clearly has an awesome battery life. Probably could've gone 6 or so weeks before having to charge it but there were many times when I forgot to turn it at all the way off so it just went into sleep/hibernate mode instead.

Last night was Cara and Steve's wedding shower. Forgot I had to make something for it until Friday afternoon. Managed to make super easy cupcakes that taste like Twinkies! I saved one for Joe to try and he said that they tasted like Twinkies but only better since he doesn't actually like them (side note: I have never written about Twinkies this much in my life). He didn't want to go so I went with his sister. It was fun and I was having a good time but we left around 10. She had some stuff to do and had only just woken up at 4pm. It's probably good we left when we did though, since it was getting to the point where it was pretty much just Cara partying with her friends - even her own brother left when we did. If I had my own car though I think I would have stayed. I kinda wanted another drink and the people watching was absolutely HYSTERICAL.

Nothing special planned for today. Had a few things I wanted to wash so I threw in quick load of laundry this morning (sheets, towels, jeans). Gotta go get it from the dryer in about 15 minutes or so. It's really nice out today so hopefully we can do something outdoorsy. There's a pizza place right down the street from us (a different one from the one I mentioned the other day). Literally, I can see the place from the window. At any rate, they make wicked good food AND have outside seating, so I think I'm going to suggest we do that for lunch or dinner today.
