Whispering Pines

Jun 03, 2006 00:35

He hadn't been at the pub an awful lot after what had happened with Roy but this morning he'd come in early, going over his plans with the few people he'd shared them with, and had been up at the office ever since. Once he'd caught up on things, Patrick made sure everything would be all right for at least another week or so before heading ( Read more... )

Brendan grimaced quietly to himself when the bandage over the tattoo rubbed and caught. Sometimes he wondered whether he'd be better of just taking the damned thing off. It seemed to iritate him more than the material of the shirt would. He rolled his shoulder and bent to pick up the carton again, this time succeeding in lifting it up to its place on the shelf.

"Didn't I tell you to take the day off today, mate?" Patrick chided gently as he stepped up behind Brendan and slipped his arms around him.

His head started to turn, then he felt Patrick's arms around him and he smiled instead.

"Yeah, you did, I think," he replied with a grin. "Just had to... you know... put this away."

"Of course." He smirked and shook his head, the suggestion that Brendan should take it easy for a day or so had been made by him more than once, but not once had he expected the man to actually follow his suggestion. Pressing his lips to Brendan's cheek, he gave him a sideways glance and asked, "So, I reckon you're about done here then?"

Rolling his eyes and shaking his head Brendan took the keys and made his way to the back of the car, opening it. "Right, yeah, can distinctly remember the instructions. But it's alright, I'll get 'em anyway."

He picked up the two bags and closed the boot with his elbow.

"Well, lead on," he told Patrick, leaning down until the boot catch clicked.

"You know, I really never noticed you were an awfully grumpy person," Patrick commented before shrugging and indeed leading the way around the house to the front entrance only to be stopped by an immaculately dressed woman with slightly greying dark hair who came out of the house to greet them. "We say you driving up and since my husband will probably be drooling over your car any minute now I thought I'd go out and welcome the both of your first."

She shook Patrick's hand and exchanged a few pleasantries and told him they had to talk later on before turning to Brendan. "And you must be Brendan - welcome to Whispering Pines, I'm Celia."

A little puzzled at Patrick's comment Brendan followed him till they were greeted. Putting one of the bags down Brendan shook Celia's hand.

"Hi. Nice place you have here," he told her, looking around with a smile.

"Thank you," she replied with a smile of her own. "Even though I can hardly take credit for the surroundings of course." Gesturing towards the front door, she continued, "But do come in - "

Brendan shuffled his feet, letting go his hold on Patrick's shoulder as he turned around. His eyes wandered across the room's decor, appreciating the knotted pine pannelling and the sloped ceiling. He wasn't too sure what Patrick had in mind, but trusted him, and smiled to himself as he glanced into the bathroom at the jacuzzi.

It suddenly occurred to him then that they were also expecting the results of their tests that day, and for a moment he tensed. With a slow deep breath he managed to ease the tension out again, throwing a quick glance down at his jeans to see where his phone was. Patrick's hands, moving on his skin also helped distract him as he closed his eyes and focused on them.

"Relax," Patrick murmured quietly as he leaned in, tracing his tongue along the crease between hip and thigh and pressing his lips to the man's hip before nuzzling the cleft of Brendan's arse. One hand moved down briefly, again squeezing the bulge in his pants and then both hands were on Brendan's arse again and with his thumbs Patrick pressed the soft flesh and hard muscle to expose what lay inside. "Relax," he repeated, breathing cool air over the hot skin.

Brendan stopped breathing for a few moments as he felt Patrick's breath on skin normally hidden. He released it in a long slow moan as a shiver of anticipation ran through him. He wished for a moment he was close to something, anything, to lean on.

He licked teasingly, at the man's cleft then inched closer and closed his mouth over the opening, tongue circling lightly before pushing at the center. He reached around, placing one hand on Brendan's hip bone, holding the man close, as he blindly searched for the lube with the other. Once he'd located it he focused all of his attention on Brendan's arse again, now breaching the tight muscle and managing to push his tongue in just a little.

"C'n imagine the stress it must've put you through," he smirked. "Showed great restraint, y' did."

"Didn't I?" He moved closer, nuzzling Brendan's neck. "Think I deserve a reward of sorts for my efforts, don't you?"

"Didn' y' just get it?" An eyebrow arched as Brendan looked at Patrick. "Felt pretty 'rewarding' from here."

"That were just the beginning then, I hope," Patrick mumbled before running his tongue up the other man's jawline and then pressing his lips to Brendan's cheek. "But I'd have to agree with you, it was bloody rewarding on my end too, really."

Patrick smiled, gesturing vaguely with his fork as he swallowed his food. "It's almost cheesy, really. Or not really but, well, I'm not entirely sure -" He picked up his glass and took a sip before adding, "Clearly it's far too soon for me to have anything coherent to say about it."

"Clearly!" Brendan agreed with a smirk and small shake of his head as he continued eating. A few more lunchtime diners arrived, the small restaurant over half full. "Seems to do a good enough trade, considering it's a Monday."

"It's supposed to be a good restaurant." Patrick nodded absently as he examined the piece of chicken he'd just speared with his fork. "Perhaps you ought to buy the place, eh? That would certainly take care of my constant need of Indian food - " he murmured before finally putting the chicken into his mouth.
