This is a post all about good things.
I was in Brighton today (yet again), and I got a henna tattoo of a seahorse on the back of my hand! I had this weird swirly pattern last month, which has faded by now, but this one is in blue. The die is called jagua (I think) and it's different than traditional henna, which is brown and you leave it on for as long as possible, but jagua you have to peel off about two hours after it's done otherwise it starts to burn. But over the next two days it'll get darker until it's a nice deep blue. At the moment it's just very pale and looks a bit weird.
But anyway the dude who does them, Andrew, is totally fucking awesome, he kind of reminds me of an unwashed Gabe, seriously he can skeeze in about six different languages, it's hilarious XD He used to work with this other dude but he disappeared and is now in Manchester apparently... so Andrew was a bit swamped cos the little shop is on the pier so there's always a load of people/tourists there. So I told him to do mine last cos there were about ten other people who arrived just after me. He totally draws them all out by hand as well; it's incredible to watch.
The subways new album 'All or Nothing' is amazing, and the song 'Strawberry Blonde' has to be my favourite, it's just the right mix of fast/heavy and slow/acoustic that I adore. I can upload it if any one wants to hear it.
My The Black Parade Is Dead DVD came yesterday and I watched it this evening. OH MCR I SERIOUSLY FORGET HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU SOMETIMES. I AM GLAD YOU REMINDED ME. I totally have a theory about Stage!Gerard, that if you stood him in front of a mirror he would be more than happy to preen and prance and perform all for himself.
Another good thing! I bought a bra that fits! This is totally awesome because I always have to buy one or two bust sizes bigger because I am so embarrassingly flat chested, but in, oh god, Marks & Spencers I found one that fitted! It's well flattering too so this is all good.
BUT THE MOST AMAZING OF ALL is me being really brave and asking venues about Camera Policies. It started out with me thinking it would be really awesome if I could get my big camera into Panic's show on Monday, and Lightspeed Champion's show at the Concorde 2 on the 23rd, so I emailed the Southampton Guildhall and got forwarded to about six new email addresses before finally getting hold of the tour promoter's address, so right now I'm waiting for a reply from them. So finger's crossed.
And then yesterday I was in Brighton and I got hold of the phone number for the Concorde 2 and rang them. AND I AM TOTALLY ALLOWED TO BRING MY BIG SONY NA200, THIS IS AMAZING. I might not be able to get front-of-barrier, but that's fine cos I've got a big big zoom. SO AHHH THIS IS AMAZING.
In November Spiers & Boden are playing at the Brighton Komedia, so I went and asked their box office, but they don't actually have a camera policy, it's down to each individual act they have, so the venue promoter gave me the email I needed to get in touch with the tour promoter, so I'm waiting for a reply from them. And I'll go and annoy the Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms next week about the TAI and GCH shows in September. BUT SERIOUSLY.
I WAS LIKE "IT WOULD BE COOL IF I COULD TAKE SOME PHOTOS AT THIS GIGS" AND NOW IT'S ALL HAPPENING SO FAST AND I AM TOTALLY AIMING FOR FREELANCE PHOTOGRAPHER. Cos I already have a big collection of shots from motoring events like at Goodwood, but getting into gig photography would be amazing, and I promised the Concorde 2 they'd get some prints if I got some decent shots. So WOW OKAY THIS IS AMAZING. YESTERDAY I WAS TOTALLY DISAFFECTED AND MISERABLE AND ALL WOE WHAT IS MY LIFE, AND TODAY THINGS ARE SOOO GOOOD.
I LOVE. AND NOW I AM GOING TO GET SLIGHTLY DRUNK AND WATCH SOME BLACK BOOKS DVDS.
