I gave a lot of thought to this years goals. I really wanted them to be something that I could accomplish if I tried hard enough. I also wanted them to be something I had to work for. None of this easy junk. I think I succeeded in creating my goals. You will also notice that I am pretty specific. I need to me. Without specific guidelines, This list will end up in the garbage!
However, in the Theme of being "one with the gang" I have decided to follow in
Amy's lead, (who is following in her
Brother's lead) and create a new Years Theme.
My New Years Theme is... Creating the Best "Me" possible... ever!
Yeah I know it sounds a bit cheesy, but seriously running has helped my self esteem greatly. I have never felt this good about myself, my body, my mind and my life. So I really want to continue that feeling for the year. I want to create the best me possible. To do that... I need your help.
2009 Goals
1) Complete the Disney Marathon on January 11- Only 9 days to go! I have received tons of encouragement from fellow runners and friends. I can't believe how many people are supporting me all of the way to the finish. I will keep each of you with me!
2) Complete at least 1 triathlon in 2009- I am taking a triathlon training class this spring semester which is being taught by a local ironman athlete. There is an in class triathlon for the final. I would like to finish!
3) Lose weight- There is no shame in sharing the numbers! My goal is to hit 155 by March 1 and 145 by the year's end. This is totally doable if I put my mind too it. Of course I might change my goals as I see my body at each of these weights. I am realistic after all!
4) Update my blog more and find new ways to pimp my blog to get more readers- My blogging ebbs and flows and I would really like to blog more. Both for my sake but also for the sake of helping other newbies who had as many questions as I did. If any of your bloggers out there know of good way to pimp your blog and get more readers... let me know.
5) Give back to the online runner community through my blog and by assisting others- I started this blog to track my progress, update my family and friends but also to help the running community. Everywhere I looked I could find running blogs but nothing geared to the newbie and to reviewing all of those crazy products and rituals that we all swear by. I want to give back to a community who has given me a ton. (Note to any companies out there; I accept free products in exchange for a review on my blog. I do have ethics and I can't promise a positive review every time... but I will tell you that I tend to be a glass is half full type of gal!)
6) Run an entire 5K- Yup this goal is coming back in 2009. Once I accomplish goal #1, I really want to focus on form and bettering my running. Even if I keep the same exact pace as I currently run, I would like to run at least one race the entire time. My goal is to run the Labor Day 5k. Of course I would love to better my PR too!
That's it kids. Please do me a favor and kick my butt in reaching these goals. I mean seriously, when is the last time someone invited you to kick their bootay? You have an open invitation all year long!
Happy New Years Gang!
