Heck that pace will get me swept at Disney. I have got some serious recovery to do if I even have a hope at finishing a marathon in January. I am not even sure my beginning runs when I first started running in March 2007 were this slow.
Today's run was rough. It was a 12 miler, a distance which I have done before. However today just wasn't my day. It was by far my slowest 12 miles at 3:25:58. Seeing how I have finished a Half Marathon in 3:05:23, I was seriously disappointed.
Now I do have to preface this by saying it wasn't a miserable run. I wasn't hurting. Had plenty of water. I can say thought that I am far more sore tonight than I have been in a long time. I guess it was just my day for a crappy run.
I really think I need to scale down my cross training in the days prior to super long runs and I might also need to re-evaluate my intervals. On Thursday I did some killer weight lifting. Friday I was in the pool for 45 of which 15 minutes was treading water. I did take Saturday Off to rest since I wanted my legs to recover but I just don't think it was enough.
I did however cheer myself up by purchasing a 2gig iPod shuffle today. I currently have an iPod Mini and it had an armband holder thing. Well today I received some major chafing/pinching from the armband and now seriously have a hole in my arm to prove it. Even though my iPod usage is very sporadic at best (Ie I only started using it two weeks ago or so), I have decided I would rather have it as a back up for Disney Miles 20 just in case. Heck that is if I even make it that far.
Anyone want to pace me for a 7 hour marathon?
