From one Race to Another

Yeah... so I know it has been forever and a day since I last posted. I have been a huge slacker and am hoping to correct that.

Since the Country Music Half in April I have...
1) Went on an Alaskan Cruise
2) Received a new job
3) Had some horrible running spells
4) Completed another Half Marathon.......?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yup you heard it right. Horrible running and all, I completed a half marathon on Friday night! It was the "Make It By Midnight" Marathon and Half Marathon. This was a small local race hosted by my running club. We had 8 marathoners, 5 half marathoners and 4 fun runners. We probably had as many volunteers as we had runners!

The goal was to finish as close to midnight without going over, thus you could start your race whenever you felt necessary. If you finished prior to Midnight you were rewarded with a Tiara and after midnight you received a pumpkin. I think this picture says it all.

Overall the race was awesome. I knew going into this race that the course was going to be challenging so I figured I would do what ever it took to finish. Challenging...was a bit of an understatement. Lets just say there was no flat land what so ever. Not good for a Florida Girl.

I really enjoyed the challenge though. I walked a good majority of it to save my legs on the hills. I also realized that I am not a good runner when I cant see the ground. LOL Something new to practice.

Best part of the race: Wonderful Volunteers and a killer Aid station. The volunteers would not let you pass by without making sure you were taken care of. The aid station was stocked with rice krispie treats, pretzels, popsicles, clif bars, gatorade, water, ice, gels, tabs, chips, etc.

I had a horrible overall time with 3:45:00 but honestly... best race ever. It was a challenge and I appreciated something new. Plus who can beat running with friends!
