Mimi - JMC & LEGO

Feb 25, 2009 17:27

Since the beginning of the year, Mimi has been going for JMC lessons. I have been trying to gauge his interest in music since last year. Brought him to Mandeville to enquire about the lessons there but he was terrified that I would leave him at that place. Dunno why. Every now and then, I would ask him whether he wanted to learn piano or violin. I have not been able to get a definitive reply. Finally, I decided to just sign him up for JMC. He was ok to go when I told him that I would be with him during the lessons.

He loves JMC! He will get really upset if I tease him and say that he will not go for lessons anymore. : P

This time, we got a good JMC teacher, thank God. The last when I sent Dominic there, the teacher was not very good.

Sometimes, I will still ask him whether he wants to learn the piano or the violin. The latest is the violin. Well, even if he really wants to learn the violin, I think JMC will be a good foundation for him until he is old enough to move on.

Now that Mimi is taking lessons, Dominic is also more motivated to learn. We just signed him up for individual piano lessons at Cristofori and he will start next week. I would have sent him to Yamaha as well, since I am already bringing Mimi there for lessons. Unfortunately, the classes are only held during office hours, so it was too inconvenient.

Back to Mimi. He is not as Lego-crazy as Dominic. Richard has been trying to teach him how to follow instructions and put things together. Since then, he has been into creating stuff with LEGO, just like Dominic. Here are some of his recent creations :

He is also drawing more and will draw things that he experiences or places he has been to. He is also better than Dominic at following drawing instructions. I bought them this book that teaches them how to draw pictures using shapes. Dominic just chucked the book aside. Mimi is able to look at the book and reproduce by following the steps.
