The sponsorship thingy is a good idea although I don't think Ethan will understand it at this point in time.

But it's a long term commitment so I am still considering. If you are interested, you can sign up first and slowly introduce to Ethan later on. I think they have more younger kids than older ones and it would be better to have someone nearer to Ethan's age.

You can give World Vision sponsored kids small gifts - pencils/erasers/stickers. We are sponsoring a child so it's great for the kids.

Forgot to add, say if it's around Christmas/child's birthday or CNY/Thanksgiving (depending on which part of the world the child is at), Dom can start saving up and part with some allowance to get small gifts.

All the employers in Glen's company are assigned to one WV child. They are supposed to keep track of the children and correspond with them.

Do your children write to the sponsored kid? In what way has this sponsorship been a positive thing for your children?

Very short letters though. Simple things like sharing about what happened here (festive seasons) and what they learned in school.

The boys and I also do a bit of Geography on the country. We discuss about what life is like that, the food they eat, etc.

Sponsored child only write once a year, with the help of the WV staff as most of them are unable to communicate in English. I was told that the child does read the letters we write to them.

I think my kids are starting to realise they are very blessed to live here!
